dingy Posted June 19, 2011 #3 Posted June 19, 2011 This is an ebay item # for a set of 8mm wires. # 160606108106 Vendor ID spiritusantu They will fit in place of the stock 7mm wires. I had them on my bike all last year. Gary
bkuhr Posted June 19, 2011 #4 Posted June 19, 2011 Mike, these plug caps have resistors inside them. They can be taken apart to inspect the resistors, but if very corroded would recomend to replace the caps. Found some at a non yami mc repair shop for less then $3 each.
mike042 Posted June 19, 2011 Author #5 Posted June 19, 2011 thanks for great info !! just looked at the wires and the one sparking just poped out of cap in my fingers ok but how the **** do the caps come off are they screwed on to plugs ? cause the ones on there are angled at top and cant turn them off they hit sides of motor they feel like a hard plastic so do i just get pliers in there and unscrew them if they are screw on will replace with straight ones but dont want to break these for now as i might have to ride it to shop ( no trailer)
Yammer Dan Posted June 19, 2011 #6 Posted June 19, 2011 They pull off the plug. Be carefull with them. I wouldn't use pliers. You can take them apart to clean them just be carefull of little parts in them. Flat screwdriver in hole where they fit on plug. Don't remember right now how they come off wire but if you get them off the wire snip a small piece off the end to clean up connection there. If you have very small hands you can change coil end without pulling anything. Pay attention to how collar works to hold them in when putting back. Better to do the E-Bay set. Yours are probally 26 years old.
mike042 Posted June 19, 2011 Author #7 Posted June 19, 2011 yahoo thank you very much people!! thanks yammer dan they did pop right off cleaned it there is a screw type pin u screw into middle of wire the wire was barely hanging on to it when i took off put back together and seems ill be able to ride while i wait for new set of wires thanks again and ill be a permanet member here shortly!!! and will be bothering all you again im sure haha love these old bike now and want to make this one a brand new/old bike by end of summer:cool10: thanks again
