Freebird Posted June 24, 2011 Author #26 Posted June 24, 2011 Yea, I can be a glutton for punishment. I went back and forth deciding between the Avon and the E3. I really like the way the RsV handles with the Avons and they may be the quietest tire I've ever run. I talked to a lot of riders at Maintenance Day and one thing that I heard over and over was that they liked the E3 but that they were a little noisy. I once had Michelin Commanders on my bike and I liked everything about them except the fact that they would sing in the long sweeping curves. If this set of Avons crack though, I will go with the E3 the next time.
camos Posted June 24, 2011 #27 Posted June 24, 2011 Also just paid my subscription for the year and it cost 12.09 Canadian verses 12.00 American. Not sure if taxes are involved or not. PayPal fee?
Ryana7769 Posted July 14, 2011 #28 Posted July 14, 2011 Friend of mine gave me an Avon rear tire off of his RSV that was almost new, he bought the bike and put white walls on right away. Now I'm thinking of not using it with all this cracking issue. Any suggestions on the best tire now? I currently have Dunlops that came on the bike new. Tks

Jus Monkeyin Around Posted July 14, 2011 #30 Posted July 14, 2011 So... let me see if I get this straight.... Metzler's chunk (loose pieces of rubber) Avon's crack Dunlop E3's.... ? Dunlop 404's not beefy enough (read somewhere that E3's not so good in wet - is this true?) I went back to metzler my Avons cracked and I never had a problem with Metzler chunking off pieces and I really liked how the me 880's handled in the rain, but thats my :2cents:
DBOB Posted July 14, 2011 #31 Posted July 14, 2011 I went to Pirelli's. After the third set cracked that was it for me. Hey Buddy; How do you like the Pirellis? My rear Venom is cracking in the middle of the tread. I have been shopping around and found MT66 Pirelli for about $50 less than the Avons. Thanks; Don
Monty Posted July 14, 2011 #32 Posted July 14, 2011 The Pirelli Route 66s are a low-mileage tire. The bike shop next to me sells a lot of them, and people are starting to find out why he pushes to sell so many. They don't last long, and they have to buy another one soon. I tried a couple of them on my 850, and they were junk.
DBOB Posted July 14, 2011 #33 Posted July 14, 2011 Thanks Monty, I will probably go back to the Venoms. Don
