Leaking fluid from bottom of bike.

I notoiced a small amount of fluid under my bike in the garage floor today. I am thinking it's coming from the shock absorber in front of the rear tire. My bike is a 2000 Venture. any suggestions?

look close and see if it came from one of the vent tubes, if it did come from the shock, then it is toast....

Just look at the bottom shock mount - the bottom of that shock should ALWAYS be 100% TOTALLY ABSOLUTELY dry. Never any oil, or even oily dirt residue. IF it is not just totally dry and dusty, your shock is bad.

Went out to my newly acquired 88 yesterday and clicked the damper up from 2 to 4 ready for a two up ride this weekend and oil just poured out of the shock......

 

1-800 -progressive for me to buy a new rear to go with the recently purchased front springs.

Thats unusual, as the older G1 Venture shocks dont pack it in very often. I would be inclined to just put stock back in. Have a look on ebay , youll catch them on there once in a while, I paid 25 bucks for one to have as spare a while back.

What Brian said. They don't crap out very often on the 1st Gens. Can be had pretty easy on E-Bay. Progressive on rear although if you want it is a good thing but prepare to pay. I would go with a used stock one from E-Bay.
