OB-1 Posted June 16, 2011 #1 Posted June 16, 2011 My bike is out of warranty now so I'm considering a Dyna-3000. Some of you have a Dyna-3000 on your RSV, so how do you like it? Was it worth the money? An inquiring mind wants to know?
dingy Posted June 16, 2011 #2 Posted June 16, 2011 Why don't you take a look at the Ignitech unit? Fully programmable, it's not limited to 8 preset programs. Here is a link to the Dyna install manual. http://www.dynaonline.com/skins/downloads/instruct/D3K7-4_7-5.pdf Here is a link to the Ignitech thread. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=40414 Ignitech's web site. http://www.ignitech.cz/english/aindex.htm Gary
Grisolm1 Posted June 16, 2011 #3 Posted June 16, 2011 Previous owner installed mine plus (Baron tach) so I can't tell for sure difference but you will get another 1000 RPM of "useful range". So say from 6000 stock to 7000 with Dyna3. That's 16% higher top speed in any gear before you have to shift. Redline is actually set to 7500 on mine but there is no power above 7000 anyway. Probably intake system limited. My Gen1 Mk2 screams to 8000. Better mileage - don't think so. Would I do it if it wasn't on bike aleady? Of course but I'm a sucker for this stuff. Next performance upgrade will be a Vmax rear end. Then you definitely want the higher redline.
Freebird Posted June 16, 2011 #4 Posted June 16, 2011 I have the Dyna 3000 on mine and I don't think there is any benefit at all unless you just like to occasionally stomp on it. Every once in a while, I get the urge to hammer it and having the higher rev limiter is really nice. That along with the VMAX rear which I also have installed is really fun when you just want to play a bit.

Have you tried every preset and what is your fuel milage. is there a setting that drops your milage considerably?
Freebird Posted June 16, 2011 #6 Posted June 16, 2011 No, I have not tried every setting. Several years ago, there was an owner who took his bike to the Dyna factory and they did a lot of Dyno test on it at all the different settings and there was no significant difference in performance at any setting. The only real advantage that I see is the ability to raise the rev limiter. I've noticed no change in gas mileage under normal riding.
