Jdix Posted December 5, 2007 Share #51 Posted December 5, 2007 Don: I don't post very frequently but have used the site extensively for the vast information that it provides. This is the only motorcycle forum that I participate in. I agree completely with the way it is run and your posts. I thank you for all you have done and are doing to keep this valuable, informative and friendly resource available. Jdix
Tartan Terror Posted December 5, 2007 Share #52 Posted December 5, 2007 Best advise is go ask yourself before you hit the post button if you think its questionable to post. If you have to think twice then better to hot hit that button.

MrRadi8 Posted December 5, 2007 Share #54 Posted December 5, 2007 I'm offended that you... Nah. Great post and thoughts. There's great info here and people to help even the completely stupid when they can't get rightly-tighty lefty-loosey correct. Glad you take the time to be concerned. You can't please everyone all the time but you can piss someone off almost all the time. You practice what you preach. And it shows. Thanks. Guest stevern Posted December 5, 2007 Share #55 Posted December 5, 2007 Having just found this site again, I spend some of each day reading it, and appreciate the wisdom and knowledge of each of you riders. Being retired now, i have much more time to spend here. I love the quickness of the responses I get, not like so many forums, where you finally get a response, but you forgot what you asked about. lol Please keep this like it is. No time for arguments, or flames, just good materials, questions answered, and remarkable general reading. love you guys, and am glad to be back here! Guest MotorCycleRadio Posted December 5, 2007 Share #56 Posted December 5, 2007 Since I'm a newbee here I hope it wasn't me. I bit my tongue and made no posting reference another organization mentioned on this web site recently. And I had PLENTY TO SAY, but decided not to. Wonder if I said something and didn't realize it. Anyway, so far I think this web site fits me JUST FINE BUSINESS!
Freebird Posted December 5, 2007 Author Share #57 Posted December 5, 2007 Nope, I don't recall you posting anything that this would apply to. I was actually not singling out anybody in particular. Just sort of a general statement that just seems to be needed every year or so. Please, nobody take it personal. Unless you are GUILTY.

saddlebum Posted December 6, 2007 Share #60 Posted December 6, 2007 Don I don't think anyone of us could have said it all any better than you did in your opening post. It is sad however that it had to be said at all, assuming that most people being adults would show some degree of common sense and tolorance and not always jump on the political correctness band wagon which even in everyday life seems to be an acceptable wet blanket for those who always seem to find something silly to cry about, when the world is full of much more serious issues that could be addressed, and to the benifit of all instead of individual special interest groups. By the way I love this site and the people ive met both on and off the site. something I and I know others would not have benifited by had it not been for your efforts. BOO Posted December 6, 2007 Share #61 Posted December 6, 2007 I take it that someone said something in the last few days while I was fighting with my computer. Dang I miss all the good stuff. We should have a section for all the stuff the Moderators have deleted so the rest of us can see what happen, only kidding Don. I have sat down and typed quite a bit about a subject and after I proof read it I decided it wasn't worth posting. Sometimes what I had to say was worthless but other times I could see where someone might take offense from what I said sooooo I just deleted it. If someone really ticks me I would come closer to confronting them face to face. Don, you don't need me to tell you you are doing a fine job so I won't, Happy Holidays, Jerry

Squidley Posted December 6, 2007 Share #63 Posted December 6, 2007 Not to climb on a soapbox here (but some will feel that way ) I would like to say something about our CEO. Some of you have personally met Freebird, I am fortunate enough that I live about 3 hours away and can spend time with him and his family. Don is a VERY good friend of mine, and like all of my friends, I will come to his side when anyone tries to challenge his autority here (Dont get PC with that statement) I heard it mentioned a couple times about giving someone a warning about inappropriate comments or behavior. Trust me when I say that we DO do that. There have been a few that have been warned about postings that were made. Don truly hates to do this, he is one of the nicest, easiest going folks you'll ever meet. I, on the other hand, agree with a couple of warnings and then your gone. I have no tolerence for idiots and have no problems if they are not here. We moderators do talk and together decide what actions, if any, should be taken to folks that cross the line. I have mentioned it before that YOU folks make this site what it is. The Moderators and Freebird just steer it sometimes, it's usually on cruise control. I too have to bite my tounge on a few posts as I dont get along with all views here, but thats life and it wont ruin my day. Thank you to all that enjoy this place and especially to Don for all his efforts to give us the best place on the web....for free! BTW...We do watch the troublemakers, and know who they are
ventureblue Posted December 6, 2007 Share #64 Posted December 6, 2007 Here is my 2 cents. Jokes are just that Jokes. If you dont want to here it, dont listen. If you dont want to read one, turn the page. Lighten up people. This is a great site that has helped alot of people come together, helping each other with bike related problems. I had the chance to go to a Meet and eats This past Fall. My wife and I weren't to sure what type of people we would meet there. Let me tell you we were welcomed like family. This was a most memorable time and we cant wait till the weather gets nice again to go on another. Now without having access to this site we never would have met the nicest bunch of biker trash (just kidding) you would ever want to meet. I couldn't believe how helpful, friendly and just good people were members of this site. So in my own opinion if someone writes something you dont like.......Grow up. If your getting ready to write something as a joke...... think about it. I would hate to see this site gone and know everyone else would too. thats just my 2 cents
brscooter Posted December 6, 2007 Share #65 Posted December 6, 2007 I've been on here a little over 2 years and have been to Colorado, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia and plan on going to Ontario next summer just to meet and ride with the people that I have met on this site and to meet more. Not near as much traveling as our friend (Lowell) from Texas that shows up everywhere but it sure makes things nice when you can pick up a list you printed out from here no matter what state you are in and look up someone that is willing to come help you or just meet you for a cup of coffee. I also know that if something happens to me I will get more prayers than I ever would have before because the people here really care, its not fake with them. I have found that out first hand when I needed a little help when I got to feeling bad in Georgia and also one of the guys I was riding with needed help with a tire on a Sunday for us to get home. If I need to argue with someone, not to say that I dont every now and then, I've been married almost 36 years and we have it down pat. Also I can just make a traffic stop and give someone a ticket. If I am mad at someone from another state then I go on I10 and watch for a plate from there. Just kidding. Thanks to Don and everyone else that steps up here to help. noahzark Posted December 6, 2007 Share #67 Posted December 6, 2007 . . . I have mentioned it before that YOU folks make this site what it is. The Moderators and Freebird just steer it sometimes, it's usually on cruise control . . . Squidley, Don't discount what you guys do here, it's called "leadership." That is an abstract term to a lot of people so let me throw in an example. Remember when your kids were playing youth sports, and how the jerk teams and their jerk parents acted? I'll bet my next paycheck that the coach was a jerk, too. Most sports teams (and groups like this site) take on the characteristics of their leaders. I think that's what we're all trying to say here, "thanks for the leadership" that allows us to know the limits while providing the best info available on Yamaha bike bikes. Again, thanks to all for this site.
Venturous Randy Posted December 7, 2007 Share #68 Posted December 7, 2007 I feel very fortunate that I have had the privilege of being on this site for several years. I have learned a ton of technical stuff and have tried to contribute when I can. I work 2nd shift and it is a rare night when I get home from work and don't crank up this site, no matter how tired I am. Political correctness is about balance. Yes, we do need some political correctness out of just plain courtesy, and yes, we see it every day in our lives when it goes way over board. There is a fairly wide range that works well and we should all be able to stay in that range and still have a lot of fun. Speaking of fun, I have been able to get to know several members on here and have spent time with them and their families at times other than our events. I have been to all three Vogal get togethers and look at that as a time to set aside vacation days for and that is special to me. There are a lot on here that I care about and they also care about me and my family. Another point that was made by cowpuc is how some other sites are run. I have two Maximas and occasionally visit Maxima.org. There is a tremendous amount of technical infomation on that site, but talk about having to sort thru crap to get there. There is seldom a post where several don't try to flame someone else. And many times it is obvious they have little knowledge about what they are flaming someone else over. We are lucky folks to have Don and squidley and others that are simply very good folks and will truly do what they can to help and have fun. Black Owl Posted December 7, 2007 Share #70 Posted December 7, 2007 Most sports teams (and groups like this site) take on the characteristics of their leaders. Well, I think that this is taking things a bit fer...... I may, on occassion (and those will be few and far between) agree with a political position taken by Freebird or Squidley.... (yah right) , but there ain't no way, no sir, that I will ride my lawnmower into the pond. I mean, I do have some character. And besides that, my locks are muuuuch loooooooooonger that Don and Squidley's togather.
Eddie Posted December 7, 2007 Share #71 Posted December 7, 2007 Just because you are a character doesnt mean you have character. I would like to see this site go back to being fun and not so serious.
