BuddyRich Posted June 14, 2011 #2 Posted June 14, 2011 I made one for an HD once but he mailed me his cable and I spliced into it. The connectors on the HD are 7 pin if I'm not mistaken.
Freebird Posted June 14, 2011 #3 Posted June 14, 2011 I recently read that though the Harley is a 7 pin cable, that only 5 of the pins are actually used and that a standard 5 pin headset will work. I have no verified that though. I saw this information on the Edsets website.
BuddyRich Posted June 14, 2011 #4 Posted June 14, 2011 That would be good. Have to find a way to purrty up the cable then. I know it changes to a 16 pin (I think) Deutsch connector once it goes into the fairing. Similar to this one but black. http://www.streetperformance.com/ART/PRODUCTS/298/msd-8186.jpeg
Freebird Posted June 14, 2011 #5 Posted June 14, 2011 Here is a cut and paste from the Edsets site. If you own a Venture or Voyager, and yes, the Harley Ultra, you can simply order the 3G Goldwing Headsets below for each of these bikes. The Harley requires a mic preamp, so we will provide that as part of the package. The HD has a 7-pin system, but the two "extra" pins are not needed or used, so the same 5-Pin cable works on the HD. The new Kawasaki Voyagers will use the same as our HD headset, but a different lower cable pinout, which is not in production till late summer 2010.
BigD Posted June 15, 2011 Author #6 Posted June 15, 2011 Thanks for the information guys, I will keep looking for any update about this.
