CaptainJoe Posted June 14, 2011 #1 Posted June 14, 2011 Looking to upgrade my Arai helmet speakers "so I can actually understand " what is being said on the CB and radio.... Is this what I need? Are they worth it?
Marcarl Posted June 14, 2011 #2 Posted June 14, 2011 Some are very happy with them,,,, I'm not impressed, I did just as well with a cheap set from Chatterbox.
Eagle77 Posted June 14, 2011 #3 Posted June 14, 2011 I really like mine. I have hearing loss and so far they have worked great. They also have a plug in for ear bubs with I use a lot.
CaptainJoe Posted June 14, 2011 Author #4 Posted June 14, 2011 Before I buy , I'm going to experiment with the ones I got and put a piece of foam between shell and the speaker to get it closer to my ear?
gibvel Posted June 14, 2011 #5 Posted June 14, 2011 Ed told me that these are meant to be used with earplugs at higher volume. They sound better that way. So this may be the discrepancy between some loving them and some hating them.
Freebird Posted June 14, 2011 #6 Posted June 14, 2011 I'm one that loves them. I THINK that the reason some people like them and some don't is the placement of the speakers. The speakers are very thin and should be close to the ears. I think that many people put them in the hollowed out part of the helmet when old and thicker speakers were removed. I don't even have mine behind the lining. I have them on the outside of the helmet lining so that they are right next to my ears. They are thin enough that they are still comfortable and they sound fantastic.

Like the idea of putting some foam behind them to get them closer to the ears. Just bought the Symax II helmet and I'll give that a go when I get around to installing them in that helmet.
