I am bikeless for now - but I have something to keep me busy! I went to look at a rusty old 50 Ford F1 and bought this instead! It was restored 10 years ago but is pretty much stock. The guy bought another one to street rod and took the interior and good chrome off this one. So, I'm looking for 53 Mercury parts! Runs great and is going to be fun!!!

Of course unless you want it to be strictly stock, betcha you can use '52 - '54 parts! Can't remember if the Ford and Merc bumpers were interchangeable or not, they were pretty much the same car only the Mercs were better built!

Very nice ride indeed!!!

My first car ever was a '52 Merc 4-dr ... I partnered with a buddy and we bought it for 20 bucks!! LOL. After a while, I paid him his $10 share and it was all mine. First thing I did was rip the front end chrome off and paint eveything visible behind the grille flourescent Orange! LOL ya, I was pretty young then! Loved that overdrive switch it had .... and that it burned a quart of oil every 50 miles.... I'd pass folks and then smoke 'em out! hahahaha

Eventually rolled the damned thing first time out on the highway in the winter ..

Oh the memories!

Bryan,

I was down in your fair town on Thursday! I took the Pacecar to the Central Reform Church for their Vacation Bible School. I had a great time!

Mark....do yourself a favor. Look around for a Hollander Interchange manual that covers the '53 Merc. It will tell you all the parts from other cars that can be used for your car. Your local library might have one. It's an invaluable reference when working on old cars. They are very expensive to buy but worth every penny. I might have one that will cover that year if you can't find one on your own. I could lend it to you, with a fervent promise to return it. Good luck with your project.
