What was I thinking. I ,ade it home safe THIS TIME

Having a nice ride today , I start getting anxious because it was beginning to rain , and I didnt want to get caught in it. I dont mind rain but after 4 hours of riding I was too lazy to throw on rain gear.

There was a car in front of me going way slower than the speed limit ( WARNING #1)

He tapped the brakes a few times while comming up to intersections ( WARNING # 2). He puts his left turn signal and gets close the the yellow lines ( WARNING WARNING DONT DO IT) I proceed to squeeze past his right side just as I was passing his rear bumper I notice teh right turn signal come on!!!!!! I only had 2 feet between the car and the curb and I decided to hop the curb.

i was pissed for a second at his attempt at assassanating me but then realized I was the one at fault.

He let me know 3 times that he was gonna hurt me and I didnt listen. This time it ended nicely and I got home safe but I may not be so lucky next time.

I know better than that! I guess i needed a refresher course.

Glad it turned out good for you this time. Nice reminder to us all to NEVER let down our guard. I had to lay on the horn today to keep from hitting a cage. I see it coming, noticed it was gonna happen, corrected my speed and lane choice, and had a "out" in the event..............and the event happened. He pulled right out. His SUV was almost to the middle of the road, crossing our lane from a side street, before he heard the horn and stopped. I had wife with me and told her it was gonna happen before it did. We got lucky today as well.....

I watched that almost exact thing happen to a bike in front of me last week he took a ride through a parking lot, however he was not as smart as you he still thought there was nothing he could do different. Maybe I am paranoid every time I have a close call I always think what did I do wrong even if everyone tells I could not have done different.

Saw a guy on a Harley lose his leg that way. A woman was going very slowly and with traffic coming the other way he decided to pass her on the right, just as she decided to turn right. The accident happened at about 5 mph. Ironically she was turning into the hospital.

Hospitals are one of my red flag zones. It is quite common for someone to be rushing to be with someone that is gravely ill, and their mind is everywhere BUT on their driving.

Passing on the right side is against the law in NC just for that reason. Cant tell you how many times Ive seen peaple wreck doing that and the ones passing on the right always gets the ticket. Even if the front vehicle is giving a left hand turn signal. Not saying you were wrong but dont get caught doing it in North Carolina you just might get an officer whos looking to prove something.

 

 

Glad to hear you was able to get over the curb and out of the way safely though.
