Today is the day. Finally got ahold of the scheduling folks yesterday, supposed to be there at 9:15, and operation starts at 10:45 this morning.:clap2:

I just wanted to bump this to the front page so Karen can find it if she needs to give an update this evening, if I'm not coherent yet.

Thanks for the well wishes everyone, much appreciated.:thumbsup2:

Bob,

Good luck on the operating slab.

You realize with the right tools we would have taken a shot at fixing this Saturday. (Mechanics picks and a gasket scrapper would have you walking around like Dan.) Likely wouldn't have worked, but you wouldn't slip anymore.

Keep us updated.

Been back awake for more than an hour already. Slid myself from one bed to another with less pain than this morning.

Sitting here now, I have almost no pain anywhere, and it feels way better.

Waiting for the chance to stand up and walk yet.

I wish I was in your place.

Still waiting for OK due to blood clot in foot.

I guess we need to trade MRI/CT pics. I am going in on the 29th for my second back surgery. After years of disk compression and degeneration I will have my bottom 3 disks fused together since there is next to nothing left between them. I had two herniated disks in the 80's and lived with sciatic nerve pain down both legs for many years. 27 years in the Corps and still going strong will do that to you I guess. Gotta love Navy medicine! Good luck getting your fixed. I have always been too damned stubborn to pay attention to pain and it has gotten me pretty messed up at this point.

Hopefully I will be back to riding fairly soon. I still plan to make Sturgis this year.

Ya, they wrote me off work for 6 weeks, returning on the 25th of July. So at work Friday, I handed them the doctor paperwork , and a vacation request for the first week back. We'll see how it goes, but I really want to get Karen out there for the sights.

Oh, almost forgot, I just took a walk around the block already!!

Hope you recover quickly. I remember the worst pain from my surgeries were when they got me up to walk the first time (even with the morphine drip in my arm) but got less and less pain the more I walked. Good Luck.

hey bob, thats great news! heidi wants to know if you have any extra drugs left over, or maybe your doctor? don't push it to hard the first day, you have to save something for tomorrow.

I wonder if all the pain over the last couple months didn't raise my pain threshhold?

I passed on the morphine drip, and the vicadin pills. I've taken nothing for pain, and I feel way better than when I came in!

Bob,

Glad to hear your doing as well as you are without the pain meds. They cause problems all by themselves.

So, when do you go home? And what in the world are you going to do for 6 weeks? :080402gudl_prv:

Should be heading home this morning! I'll probably slowly work on getting the bike ready for Cody. Still hoping I will be ready for that, but will have to wait and see.

Take it real easy on the back.... let it heal good before you get out riding again..
