Kregerdoodle Posted June 3, 2011 #1 Posted June 3, 2011 James Arness of 'Gunsmoke' fame dies at 88 I don`t think I have missed a single "Gun Smoke" I can remember meeting the entire cast at the Boise Stampede... when I was real young....late `60`s...
Nighthawk II Posted June 3, 2011 #2 Posted June 3, 2011 I liked to watch to see what Chester would get into and what arguments he could get going with Doc. And when he left Festus kinda took over in that dept. I still watch it on Encore Westerns.
Solodadof2 Posted June 3, 2011 #3 Posted June 3, 2011 Quite a character that Festus. Imagine that great actor, tv series that spanned several generations, Not one story of drugs, divorce, rapes, gang shooting, bopping the babysitter, Now if that does not make you one of the greats in Hollywood what does. Miss Kitty in her hay day yee haw no wonder marshall dillion stopped in at miss kitty's place
Sailor Posted June 4, 2011 #4 Posted June 4, 2011 I really liked that show. It ran for 20 years. I remember seeing one of those horrible Japanese monster movies involving an invasion by giant ants. I am sure it was James Arness in it. At 6'7" it was hilarious to see him save the day in his western garb and trusty winchester. all the Japanese were about waist high on him.
DragonRider Posted June 5, 2011 #5 Posted June 5, 2011 The original movie "The Thing" was one of James Arness first films, he was the star of the movie..........He was the Thing that was found frozen in the ice in Antartica............That one was done in the 50's, not the remake with Kurt Russell. I really liked that show. It ran for 20 years. I remember seeing one of those horrible Japanese monster movies involving an invasion by giant ants. I am sure it was James Arness in it.
