Godlover Posted June 3, 2011 #1 Posted June 3, 2011 I am tired of bending over working on bikes so I am going to use the coupon for the 299 Harbor Freight lift. The coupon says I can get three lifts so if anyone from Iowa wants one off my coupon let me know ASAP.

I get them from a co-worker that gets them from a fellow whom gets Harbor Freight stuff that is ship damaged. He then sells them at a low cost. I paid $200.00 for mine. It works perfect and the only thing missing was the front wheel stop. I made one from a piece of 2x4 and bolted it on. My friends was missing the clamp and he ordered it from Harbor freight for $13.00 plus shipping. Good price I think considering they are sold for around 400 to 500 dollars. It was also missing the ramp, one of his co-workers is making him a ramp. The one thing that I noticed about these is this, when you have your bike up on the lift make sure you take the lowering lever for your foot back out from the jack. This way you do not accidentally step on or trip over this. I remove both after getting the bike up. :mo money::mo money::mo money: Fuzzy

When I tightened the clamp on my lift, the bike lifted to a upright position off the side stand. Yes the clamp will hold the bike and I also put two straps on my bike. The lift also has u-clamps on the sides to hook the straps. I put a stand under my bike in the center to hold the rear wheel off the ground. Then you just remove the back plate to remove the rear wheel. It works great I assure you. The rear wheel comes right down through the lift. The hydraulics work fine. I left my bike on the stand for a week and it did not leak off at all. There is also a steel rod that you can place through two holes on each side to hold the weight just in case, and for peace of mind. I also remove the hydraulic pedals after I get the bike up. You must build a wooden platform the same hight as the lift platform up from the ground to place your feet and side stand on - once you ride or push the bike up on the lift. I am going to build myself one asap. I think the wooden platform should be around 18" wide and 24" to 36" long. I do not know the hight without measuring it yet, but probably around 5" to 6" high. The straps are a good idea.... just because... I also bought a different chock to use - one that locks. Not sure I will bolt it on as I plan to see how the one works that came with the lift.
