barend Posted June 4, 2011 Share #19 Posted June 4, 2011 You want my professional opinion? No, not dogs, spots are too big and they aren't round, besides there is no evidence of dogs tracking back and forth along the fence line. Spots are too even in shape and seem to start/stop on the same plane which would indicate man made. MC exhaust would be a good possibility but they might be too close together. Do you use a commercial zero turn mower? Pump motors put out heat and have cooling fans on the belt pulley. The spots fall within the apparent mowing width shown on the pic, so a stopped but running mower would fit. Look to see if the "burn" is lighter or thinning on one side (i.e. less defined), which would definitely indicate heat. I see you spray your fence line to eliminate trimming, careless use of herbicide may have caused this, but not overnight and I'd have to go back to the symmetry which would make it improbable. A spill of something like a solvent of gasoline would cause this, but again, two slightly elongated spots even in size, side by side; not likely.
