I am constrained by employment and two teenage kids so I have some limitations. I would gladly ride 100-150 miles for a M&E. That makes for a 200-300 mi RT day.

Probably 500 miles would be our limit, friday riding, sat M&E and Sunday riding home. We aint all retired with wives like yours LA ;-) But someday?? Craig

Being self employed is worse and has more responsibility than working for the man! And I am not retired yet. I can usually gain a Monday or Friday to go with a weekend.......one day spent at the stop.....to actually have a good time.....leaves two days of travel time.........depends on time of year too.....temp gets below 50 degrees.....this boy is not getting Sandy on a Bike!

Good weather........759 to 800 miles, riding alone or with a friend is an easy two day jaunt.

For me it just depends if I have time to plan for it, how's the weather, if I'm on the road already how far out of the way it is. Time and distance have no meaning if the weather is good and I've had time to plan. I am retired like you LA and my wife does not care how long I'm gone if I check in on the cell phone.

Just this past summer I rode 80 miles (one way) for a Meet-Greet-Eat to welcome Jeff Brown aka Twister/PGR upon his visit to our State.

 

After meeting the man I realized I'd drive 500 miles one way just to shake his hand.

I've done several 1800+ miles round trip for a M & E . Mostly depends on planning and my other schedules . Weather makes no difference for the most part .

About 250 miles I think would probably be my limit unless I was making an overnight. Nice easy 500 mile day then. Now if folks are taking a group ride after lunch that distance has to be lower.

Normally up here 250-300 miles but I'm making an acception this winter I will travel 4 or 5000 Km to meet and eat as the wife and I are headed to Louisianna thru to The Key's this March we may even start our trip in Arkansas if the weather is any good,so if there are any RTE's along our route while we are down there we'ed like to particpate.

I've ridden solo 400 miles one way in a day, several times. Usually my riding days are a lot shorter in distance, but may take more time. I ride when I work out of town, so short days give me time to get there and back. A couple of times I've ridden 200 miles, worked a few hours, and ridden back. I'm not worth much at home that evening; usually I'm out on the couch by the time the news starts.

 

I'm planning to ride to Mobile, AL in March- 800 miles one way. I may try to make it an Iron Butt ride. If you see me riding through Mississippi, I'll be the one standing up on the blue 1st Gen.

 

Haven't ridden 2 up any long distances, so I can't say what our limits would be. Rode to Eureka Springs on Labor Day, but Amy rode her scooter- 200 miles via the scenic route, 1 way. Not bad for a 125 cc machine, at 55 mph most of the way. Now she's talking about a bigger bike, but we'll see.

 

After thinking about it, we rode 2 up to Fayetteville and back to visit friends; about 200 miles. Most rides are local, short hops (less than 100 miles round trip.)

Well Lonna and I did 725 miles in 25 hours to go riding in Canada not so long ago ....and we had ice cream to boot I would go farther for a weekend stay

Furthest I've gone in a single day is 1100 kms (a bit over 650 miles). Had to get home from Laconia Bike Week on Father's Day this past year, and was staying in Hampton Beach, NH.

 

It was a long day (6 am to 6 pm, with stops for fuel, coffee and lunch) and most of it was on the Mass Turnpike and the NYS Thruway, so it certainly wasn't a flower-sniffin' ride, but the weather was great and the bike ran like a beaut, so it was still fun.

In August of 2006, I left Amarillo TX at 0900 CDT and was in Sturgis SD by 2300 CDT. Including gas stops and road food stops, I was in the saddle about 13 hours. This was on the ElectraGlide... I dont normally make it all the way without stopping at a motel, but that year, the weather was good, I felt good, the bike was running good...

 

So there I am setting up camp at about 2230 local time...dark of course, and not really able to see well around me. I used a small LED light to setup the tent...then briefly visited my neighbors. Told them I was a bit tired from the ride all the way from Texas...they were impressed....

 

That week turned out to be one of the best times I've had at Sturgis, owing to making some new friends that just happen to be near where I camped. Oh, and the excellent bands that were playing at Glencoe that year.

 

I'm looking forward to riding the new Venture to the Black Hills this next year. I want to spare my HD's air cooled V-twin from any more of those hot idling main street cruises. Let the Venture's water cooling and a fan make it more enjoyable for me AND the bike.
