Front Fork Repair

I need some "forks for dummies" info. Never taken a fork off a big bike like this in my life [and it has been a long one]. Looks like a big job if they come out the top when taken apart. Do they come apart from the bottom? I need to rebuild the left side which developed some major squeaks.

What kind of bike?

 

I just rebuilt the forks on my 99 Venture earlier this year. The hardest part was removing the fairing.
