Thom Posted December 2, 2007 #1 Posted December 2, 2007 what do you think ? i may become a dealer of these , a bit pricey thoe , it would make a good stand too
Pilot Posted December 2, 2007 #2 Posted December 2, 2007 I wouldn't trust my Venture on one vary far or very fast......... I had a friend back in Illinois who bought one of those fancy (small wheeled, won't mention the name) trailer that was supposed to be made for bikes. Paid an arm and a leg for it. The first time he went to use it he noticed a warning sign on it that said (Do Not Exceed 40 MPH) so much for long hauls.
BEER30 Posted December 2, 2007 #3 Posted December 2, 2007 Our scoots (RSV's) are too long to fit the width of a traffic lane , plus I would not place my scoot in that position being if I hit the brakes or something else , no straps are secure enough to prevent the scoot from falling . The short wheel base (distance from axle to hitch) would be a pain backing up , plus the bumpy a$$ ride it would give . I would honestly PASS on this trailer ! BEER30
86er Posted December 2, 2007 #4 Posted December 2, 2007 I gotta agree with the others here, Thom. Even if one went to twelve inch wheels and were able to load from the other end (so kickstand were towards the towing vehicle) I wouldn't trust it for the Road Sofa! Too much weight for speed on those tire and a hard stop could tear up a lot of stuff! As to becoming a dealer, if you get a demo free and sell for use as a storage and low speed device.....maybe. But keep in mind your liability if you sell this and someone loses a bike.
Lone Eagle Posted December 2, 2007 #7 Posted December 2, 2007 Thom I think everyone here has a great point. The concept I think is OK, but there are too many other issues with this to make it not appealing. My TD, (and my belief would hold true for the Ventures) for example, is over that 800lb limit. I would be careful on this one.
Blackjack Posted December 2, 2007 #8 Posted December 2, 2007 You've discovered, rather quickly, that the prevailing opinion is that this would not be a good trailer to carry a Venture on. That aside, what is the retail price? It obviously has other potential... Terry

James Ardrey Posted December 2, 2007 #10 Posted December 2, 2007 Our scoots (RSV's) are too long to fit the width of a traffic lane , plus I would not place my scoot in that position being if I hit the brakes or something else , no straps are secure enough to prevent the scoot from falling . BEER30 Ditto Not only backing but limited turn radius. The 40 mile per hr max speed is only an issue if you are hauling the maximum wt. capacity for a particular tire. They would be way under tire capacity hauling a motorcycle so hwy speeds wouldn't be a problem. I don't see the point of this design unless you were towing it behind a vehicle that was close to maximum approved length by DOT. A free standing platform that was supported by the rearend and suspension of a vehicle would be a practical but improbable due to the amount of stress on it albeit strong enough to support a motorcycle. If accomplished the weight of the mechanism would be astronomical and very few vehicles could support the added weight of a motorcycle let alone the weight of the platform especially that far back from rear suspension. Just thinking outloud. I'm glad I don't write down everything I think!
eagleeye Posted December 2, 2007 #11 Posted December 2, 2007 It seems like it would by fine for a dirt bike, but not a full sized,(800lb) bike. I certainly wouldn't trust it. Steve
Thom Posted December 2, 2007 Author #12 Posted December 2, 2007 thanks everybody , a little more info on this weird trailer the jacks are rated at 800 lbs each total of 1600 lbs the wheels are rated at 738 lbs each total of 1472 lbs can be up graded to 910 lbs each , the wheels are swivels with springs the upgraded trailer has a payload of 1200 lbs it will not jackknife when backing up the speed rating is the same as all camper trailers tires it is mainly to be installed behind a motor home or camper trailer a option to a toy house . the bed is 60 in. by 96 in wide now what i think what is wrong with it it is to high the ramp needs to be made so it can be used from ether side i hate expanded wire floor , needs to be alum. altread and the worst thing of all the price with the up grades we need for our bikes - $3800.00 retail ouch but the elec ramp i sell to go on the back of a motor home gos between $3000.00 to $5000.00 installed and the can only be installed only on the big high dollar motorhomes. but if you can pay $ 250,000.00 for a m/h and $40,000.00 for a hd , o'well i am not trying to sell this trailer to anybody here i just want everybodys opinion , i like have over 3800 opinions and i won't look stupid with 5 of these things on my lot . now is your chance to call me nuts
