Hey everyone, I posted here last week regarding exhaust problems. Basically, due to the lack of Ventures in Ireland, it's proving a headache. The pipes on my 2001 RSV are corroding badly (underneath only, chrome is fine). The mufflers are rotting away from the main pipe and I'm getting barking noises and losing pressure. I wanted to replace the whole exhaust system but Yamaha Europe are quoting me Eur3,500 to replace the full system!

 

I was dealing with WestendMotorsports in the states and they said that the "Bub 4 into 2" system is an option BUT the end tips are currently being redesigned because of blistering. This could take forever and with alot of touring this Summer planned, I need the pipes fixed. Has anyone you know ever replace their full pipes? With the Venture, it doesn't seem that easy. I heard certain Harley pipes fit the Venture? Ebay have two or three exhausts for the RSV but I don't want to be stuck with something that will let me down in three months. Any help would be great.

I have never herd of anyone replacing the whole exhaust system. Almost everyone replaces the mufflers. I have Harley slant cut mufflers on both of mine. If the exhaust pipes (not the chrome covers) are rusting away and the chrome is good maybe you can find some used ones from a salvaged bike. Pin Wall Cycle on ebay has complete exhaust systems occasionally.

Anyone know if the 2004 pipes changed in anyway to the 2001 pipes?

Same ones. Anything from 1999 - Current year will work.

I didn't think there was any difference but I checked the part numbers on the 2004 and the 2001 and they are the same. NOW I don't know if you have the US version or the other versions. There are slight differences and I don't know what they are. But if you have the US version then the exhaust system from Pin Wall will work. If you have the overseas version (Canadian, England, etc...) then I'm not sure but will probably work.
