fuel leak front left carb

On a road trip. Smell raw fuel more at idle. Bike runs well, I think, at highway speed. Idle is not right. gas milage down to maybe 30. I did about 400.miles yestetday.

 

This AM before start up, I removed left side cover. I discovered fuel droplets on the screw just below what I would call the throttle shaft spring. I took a picture but I tried to upload and I was unable to upload the picture.

I am typing with a touch screen smart phone please excuse any typos

Any thoughts on what I am dealing with, stuck or misadjusted float ? Appreciate the help.

 

Point of reference . There is a screw above the on where fuel is a accumulating and one below. The screw above is much larger.

That screw is possibly the bowl drain screw, it needs a new o-ring. If that is the only problem its a easy fix, remove the screw and install a new o-ring. With your mileage decreasing I think you have a float problem with that carb, its overflowing and leaking into the cylinder. Sometimes they can be fixed by draining the bowl to flush out the offensive dirt. Drain the bowl through the little hose under the carb then turn the key on and allow the fuel pump to refill the bowl. The pump only runs for a few seconds so you will have to turn the key off and on to keep it running. Do this several times and see if it stops overflowing. Check the fuel level on all carbs while at it. It might be time for a carb overhaul.
