Star branded ipod touch

I bought a 2011 RSV over a month ago and have not recieved my Star Branded ipod touch. Has anyone else that bought a 2011 RSV received theirs? If I don't receive any responses from this forum I will call Yamaha in California to see what the hold up is. I now have over 1000 miles on the RSV and can't ride it enough. It is such a joy to ride after riding an FJR and a Concours 14 the last 4 years. The palms of my hands are no longer sore from having to ride with my weight on my palms. The RSV is such a comfortable bike to ride! I should have bought the 1999 model that I first fell in love with so many years ago.

Just got off the phone with Yamaha and was told that the reason we are getting the ipod touch is that Clarion no longer makes the CD changers for Yamaha. I have the cable in the saddlebag but no CD changer. I was told the dealers don't know a lot about what is going on with the ipod touch. The ipod touch will come with an adapter to plug into the CD cable in the saddlebag. This ipod touch is the replacement for the CD changer. Supposed to be shipped to the dealers in the next 2 weeks?:fingers-crossed-emo

Does anybody know if this adapter will be available for purchase? I still have the CD changer cable attached, but I ditched the changer as soon as I got the bike. Would love to be able to hook up an ipod.

Did a search and from http://fooktaitrade.en.made-in-china.com/product/DqXxzEdbnopv/China-2011-YAMAHA-Royal-Star-Venture-S-Motorcycles.html saw "Single-point audio control system for AM/FM radio, CB radio, cassette, and intercom.MP3-compatible and headset-ready.The system also includes a Star-branded iPod touch®(8GB) with an iSimple™Solutions audio interface by AAMP of America."

Can't find it on the iSimple or AAMP site, or Yamaha.

I've started another thread on this but I emailed AAMP today and this was their response :

"I am aware of the project. I believe that will be a Yamaha product only and will have to be source from a Yamaha dealer.

The product shipped last week however I'm not sure how and when Yamaha will start the distribution.

Please contacting the corp. office in the Southern California for more information.

  • 4 weeks later...

Went to visit the dealer today and picked up the Ipod Touch installation kit. Installation instructions say it must be performed by an authorized Yamaha dealer but I did it myself because it was so simple. It was straight forward with no tools required. The kit contained an interface module, interface cable, ipod cable, wire/cable holders, double sided tape, new owners manual and the iPod touch with star engraving. Took all of about 10 minutes to get it in the saddle bag. What took the longest time was me getting familiar with iTunes and the iPod touch. All new to me. I am an MP3 user so it took me a while to get the songs moved to the iPod touch. Once the songs were loaded I plugged it in and listened to the tunes. Works great. You must select what you want to play then plug it in to the system. You can only go up or down on the play list which is just fine with me. The kit has no part numbers on the interface modules or cables. The kit installation instructions state that the component is not authorized or packaged for retail sale as an accessory.

The installation instructions says and I quote:"This component is not authorized or packaged for retail sale as an accessory." "The insatallation of the digital interface is considered part of the normal unit assembly procedure on this model."

Like I said previously, there are no part numbers listed for the interface module or interface cable or the iPod cable.

The other thread I started on this and my comment above was that it will still only be available thru Yamaha. I've got Pioneer Motorsport trying to source it thru Yamaha but it isn't on their catalogues and would need a part number to get it from Yamaha.

I'm sure the price of the bike dropped back down, after the big jump when they made the CD changer standard.:confused24:
