What greese for the front axel?

I'm changing out my front tire, what kind of greese should I use on the axel? Thanks

I don`t think it really maters. the wheel spins on the bearings not the axel, I normally just use the sticky red greese that I use on my truck wheel bearings, I have used Litheum and had no problems either. I am sure you will get a million answers to this.

The axle does not actually need lubrication due to any rotational forces, the bearings handle that.

 

Some wheel bearing grease put on it, will however, aid in its removal the next time. Some of the Honda Moly grease should also work. It's recommended a lot here for drive shaft & rear hub usage.

 

I would think any heavy weight type grease. This isn't a good application for the lighter oils, such as WD40 or similar. Lighter stuff will dry out over time.

I usually put a little anti seize compound on them. Any general purpose grease should also be fine. As pointed out, it's only to ensure you can remove the axle next time.

anti-seize works great. Wear gloves when you put it on 'cause it's hard to get off your hands.

It's hard to get off everything. Somehow I've got a permanent dab of it centered on the back of my leather riding jacket.
