I need information as to how our triked '89 Venture Royale is going to react at mountain pass elevations exceeding 9000 ft. I know I will have some loss of power. Am I going to have to worry about overheating or burning a piston if I pay attention and take it easy?

use regular unleaded (86 octaneor so) at high elevations, if at sea level higher grades (90 octane plus) may help if performance is questionable. remember to use the lower gears.

i ride the rockies all the time and never had a real problem, just down shift.

Just keep the RPM up and don't lug the engine and you'll be fine. Your bike will be running rich in the higher elevations. It's not a big deal.:backinmyday:
