Lone Eagle Posted May 18, 2011 Share #26 Posted May 18, 2011 Looking at the bars it looks like there isn't any room left to mount a clamp. Talking with the RAM mount folks (the home office has you contact one of their (3) main area distributors) - and showing them pictures of Annie's cockpit - this is the one they suggested which I think will work great - especially if she has a little wiggle room for the air box - if not, if would screw right in to that left side control unit (or whatever it is). http://www.gpscity.com/ram-mount-nuvi-6xx-series-motorcycle-brake-mount.html. I am just not sure which Garmin Annie has - and have contacted her.
Aussie Annie Posted May 18, 2011 Author Share #27 Posted May 18, 2011 Kuryakyn makes a fuel cover mount for Harleys. Kinda pricy, but looks good. There's one on Ebay # 250820671343 http://i.ebayimg.com/00/$%28KGrHqJ,%21g4E2eSfR,RoBNwgv36SQg%7E%7E_12.JPG Also found this one # 180667730573 http://i.ebayimg.com/00/$%28KGrHqYOKnME2eJzG-P-BN0GuIQjqw%7E%7E_12.JPG Looks like the same one only cheaper... That one would be in the way for me to swing the stiff leg over
Condor Posted May 18, 2011 Share #28 Posted May 18, 2011 I downloaded the installation instructions. Seems to include everything needed to clamp mount. For other solutions they refer to RAM. If that thing uses a 1" ball she could get the ball that mounts under the mirror stalk and be good to go. I guess so. When I went to your link and poked around I found a listing that said the attachment was an accessory. Now I can't find it.

Thanks Victor I've purchased a Garmin 660, so I'll go ahead and get that mount, send it to Freebirds'...and if it's wrong, hopefully we can exchange it. GaThumper Posted May 18, 2011 Share #30 Posted May 18, 2011 Here's another option for you! My bike came to me with this mount already installed. It connects to the clutch or brake lever and provides the 1" ball that my Zumo mount used. http://www.ram-mount.com/CatalogResults/PartDetails/tabid/63/partid/082065077045066045051048057045049067072085/Default.aspx http://www.ram-mount.com/Portals/0/PartImages/RAM-B-309-1CHU.jpg On my dual sport I just use the "U" bolt bracket that clamps on teh handlebars wherever you can find the space. http://www.ram-mount.com/CatalogResults/PartDetails/tabid/63/partid/082065077045066045050051049085/Default.aspx http://www.ram-mount.com/Portals/0/PartImages/RAM-B-231U.jpg There's a whole page of motorcycle mounts on the Ram site... http://www.ram-mount.com/Products/MotorcycleMounts/tabid/128/Default.aspx

Dmnordin Posted May 18, 2011 Share #33 Posted May 18, 2011 ...I wish I had seen this thread sooner, Annie. I just mounted a 665 on my bike. between that & several other accessories I've bought RAM mount stuff for, I have a lot of different mounts, extensions, etc. left over that I don't need. I'm sure I have everything you would need - I would offer them for the cause and have you pay for shipping. Let me know if that would work, but it sounds like I'm too late. I live near Dave in Utah - He got a couple of parts from me that I had laying around for Allan's bike he's building. I saw Dave tonight & he said he'll be painting body parts on Saturday. You can email me at dougnrdn@gmail.com if this will help you out. Doug

tnt05venture Posted May 18, 2011 Share #35 Posted May 18, 2011 You can also mount it on the upper left part of the dash with a mount from Harley Part# 92238-09. It looks pretty cool and its less than $40.00. Just another option. Good luck!

Aussie Annie Posted May 18, 2011 Author Share #37 Posted May 18, 2011 Hey Doug, thanks for the thought. If the mount I've sent to Dave's doesn't work I will take you up on your offer.
