Aussie Annie Posted May 17, 2011 #1 Posted May 17, 2011 Here's the cockpit of the trike....where the heck will the GPS go?? The air adjust for the trike is the square black "thing" on the left--and it's hogging all the room http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/ae282/AussieAnnie888/2011%20HD%20trike/IMGP0923.jpg
Stache Posted May 17, 2011 #2 Posted May 17, 2011 I'd consider velcro attatchment to the top of the tool bag...
Hummingbird Posted May 17, 2011 #3 Posted May 17, 2011 stick it right there where the cassette player is - errr wait, is that a cassette in the middle of the pic ?
etcswjoe Posted May 17, 2011 #4 Posted May 17, 2011 Heads up GPS http://www.ce.rit.edu/research/projects/2009_fall/Motorcycle_Helmet_GPS_Heads-Up_Display/ http://www.goldwingfacts.com/forums/forum4/101825.html I have seen several Ultras that have them mounted to the fairing itself.
Squidley Posted May 17, 2011 #5 Posted May 17, 2011 Look at a RAM mount and put it on the handlebar with an extension to get it up high. http://www.ram-mount.com/

Aussie Annie Posted May 17, 2011 Author #8 Posted May 17, 2011 We've got a Garmin 660 on it's way to Freebirds' Guess I need to order a mount now
Aussie Annie Posted May 17, 2011 Author #9 Posted May 17, 2011 OKAY....what do I order????????????? Is there a mount in the box?? Do I add to that one?? Or do I use a whole new "taller" one??
Lone Eagle Posted May 17, 2011 #10 Posted May 17, 2011 Annie, RAM Mounts would be the only way to go in my opinion. On this page - http://www.ram-mount.com/EmptyPages/COMPONENTS/RAPCOMPONENTS/tabid/1560/Default.aspx they show various types of bases, looking at your picture I wouldn't be sure if there was room to put anything other than an adhesive base mount - either on the fairing or on top of that aid adjust box. What I would do is contact someone at RAM Mounts - I think their number is (from their website) (206) 763-8361 - and maybe send that person this picture to get all the parts and pieces you would need - if you wanted I could help you and make a phone call this morning to them.

Wizard765 Posted May 17, 2011 #12 Posted May 17, 2011 The 660 comes with a Ram mount. It should clamp to the bars beside your air controller and be able to sit with the unit just above that. It would be easy to see and I think it would look like it belongs there. The only concern is the one that comes with it might not be quite long enough (but it looks pretty close). If that is the case all you would need is the longer bar.
MiCarl Posted May 17, 2011 #13 Posted May 17, 2011 I like to put it on the left so I can operate it without taking my right hand off the throttle and brake coverage. THIS mount should go under the mirror arm lock nut (make sure your mirror is 11mm) An arm like THIS to get up above the air controller. Finally the holder for the GPS. RAM lists THIS when searching for a holder for the 660, but I'm skeptical. Someone that has one should weigh in to confirm it. I use a similar mount and arm with an Aquabox mount because my GPS isn't waterproof. Have you thought about power?
FreezyRider Posted May 17, 2011 #14 Posted May 17, 2011 Hey Annie, looking at all the pix of your new lady.....she's purty fer sure. But...is there really not a rear view mirror on the right side? Not sure I've ever seen a modern bike without 2 rearview mirrors. Or am I just blind???
Aussie Annie Posted May 17, 2011 Author #15 Posted May 17, 2011 Well spotted freezy..... Harley mirror didn't fit in the K Lever. The hole was too big! Rode through peak hour without one Yikes-scary!
Flyinfool Posted May 17, 2011 #16 Posted May 17, 2011 If you can tell us what thread is in the K Lever and what thread is on the mirror maybe we can come up with an adapter for you.
Lone Eagle Posted May 17, 2011 #17 Posted May 17, 2011 Annie, Harley makes a fairing mounted mirror - I am not sure if these are the correct part numbers - but here are the links. Condor Posted May 17, 2011 #19 Posted May 17, 2011 (edited) Kuryakyn makes a fuel cover mount for Harleys. Kinda pricy, but looks good. There's one on Ebay # 250820671343 http://i.ebayimg.com/00/$(KGrHqJ,!g4E2eSfR,RoBNwgv36SQg~~_12.JPG Also found this one # 180667730573 http://i.ebayimg.com/00/$(KGrHqYOKnME2eJzG-P-BN0GuIQjqw~~_12.JPG Looks like the same one only cheaper... VA Bowbender Posted May 17, 2011 #20 Posted May 17, 2011 Wally-World sells in the automotive dept a cell phone holder that works like a champ. It clips right onto the speaker vents and the whole rig is $14.99. I keep my iPhone in it when I ride that way I see messages, phone calls and can use my GPS all at the same time. And it's right near the hot point charger. http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h21/VAbowbender/d95e04f7.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h21/VAbowbender/d2b6e9b8.jpg
bongobobny Posted May 17, 2011 #21 Posted May 17, 2011 Hmmm, how about drilling into the dash bezel to the left or right in the blank area and mounting there???
Marcarl Posted May 17, 2011 #22 Posted May 17, 2011 Unless things have changed, the 660 comes with a MC mount. Somehow I think that should work. And it hardwires right into the bike's audio and power systems. It also comes with a car mount that just plugs into the cigarette lighter.

According to the contents list on their WEBSITE motorcycle mount and integrated power cable are included. Quite convenient!

And it hardwires right into the bike's audio and power systems. It also comes with a car mount that just plugs into the cigarette lighter. It comes with the mount Carl, but the attachment is sold seperatly.... Looking at the bars it looks like there isn't any room left to mount a clamp. I think that's why Kuryakyn designed the tank door system. I bought one of those grill mounts and it looked like if you hit a hard pot hole you'd be missing a couple of bars in that grill and maybe the GPS. So I retired it to the 'stuff' box....
MiCarl Posted May 18, 2011 #25 Posted May 18, 2011 I downloaded the installation instructions. Seems to include everything needed to clamp mount. For other solutions they refer to RAM. If that thing uses a 1" ball she could get the ball that mounts under the mirror stalk and be good to go.
