First, thanks again to all of you for your prayers, messages of support and general well wishes. It meant quite alot knowing you guys were sending positive thoughts while I was getting the finest treatment Wheeling, WV has to offer.

Its been two and a half months since the accident. I'm still at home, and still not allowed to put any weight on the leg (turns out I had 8 breaks, femur to foot). I still have some open wounds, and my foot is still the size and color of a small holiday ham.

On the plus side, I am now allowed to try walking with crutches, can sit in the front seat of the car like a big boy, and I returned to playing keyboards with my band, after lowering my equipment.

My one month old venture was totaled and bought by the insurance company, (at a profit!) I'm going to wait until I'm healed before getting a replacement.

My girlfriend has been an angel through all of this, so while in ICU the second time, I asked her to marry me. Surprisingly, she wants me to get another cycle.

So while not currently a venture owner, I plan on still being a venture rider.

By the way, I have two of the Yamaha headsets, never used, that I'm offering for sale. I'll post details in the correct forum.

Wishing y'all a great holiday season,

Jim

Glad to hear your on the mend. By the way did she say yes? You said you asked but not what she said in return. Oh and if she said yes you have to tell us when the wedding will be too. Maybe we can get you a motorcycle escort to the church.

Glad you still want to ride.

Watch out, she wants your life insurance! :)

Sounds like she's a keeper. Amy asked me when I was getting a new bike after my accident. Now she rides her own.

Glad you're coming around, and sounds like you made a smart decision to wait until replacing your bike. Depending on several of several possible outcomes, you may want to consider starting on a smaller bike until your strength comes back, or just waiting until you're 100% and jump back on a Venture.

It wasn't terribly romantic on my part. I was in the ICU, it was her birthday, and I said "You know that ring you like? Why not go get it."

No date has been set yet. She wants me to dance at the wedding. As if I could dance before. Thats why I have a band.

WHat a better incentive to get better knowing that you will have a dance that will last a lifetime and I'm not just talking about the wedding dance. I am glad that you getting better. We are all praying for you

Glad to hear you're on the mend and your lady is so supportive. Funny the conditions some of us are in when we pop the question. For me, it was my birthday and I was suffering a terrible hangover from the party the night before....my lips were quivvering, my voice was shaky, the words didn't come out right...... but it worked! Congrats to ya and a speedy trip to that dance floor!

Thanks, Jim, for the update. We had wondered how it was going with you. Sorry that the injuries were so extensive and the healing is taking so long. It sounds, though, like the news is good. Congratualtions on a new life-long partner! Heal well and ride safe.

Jim, glad you are getting better. I was way more fortunate than you when I crashed. I will be thinking of you getting better each day.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!:cool10::cool10::cool10::cool10::cool10:

Jim, it's great to see a progress report, especially a positive one. If things continue to go well you should be hobbling around without a cane after six months or so.

I found Proficient Motorcycling by David Hough to be inspirational reading while I was down.

Assuming she said yes :), congratulations. Will she be riding with you?

Don't worry too much about whether you'll be able to handle a Venture. If your leg is like mine was, and our situations sound painfully similar, you'll be able to ride one in March. A folding cane will fit neatly in the side bag and it's actually easier to ride than walk.

Good luck with your recovery.

Its always with mixed feelings when I read these. One, I am sure glad you are on the mend..no mistaking that!

The other, its too bad it had to happen at all!

Congrats on "getting the girl"! And she still wants you to ride!! Better yet.

glad to hear you are on the mend. once they get you going on the physiotherapy, its hard to do, but then you know you are on your way back to normal. accidents suck. i had mine in September just weeks before yours, same scenario, dummy made a left in front of me. i am fortunate nothing broken, lots of road rash and bruises like i never seen before. 31 years of riding and this was the first one. i am now able to go up and down stairs. listen to the docs and therapists, take your time. i have been back on my bike and it is still an awesome feeling, i am glad that you still have that drive to get back on and ride.

congrats on the big question, may you have many years of happiness.

cheers, Scott
