Dana (csmbrek) will be coming by to our place tomorrow @ 2pm to have some fixin going on with his bike. Nothing spectacular, but if anyone is a out and about or needs some basic maintenance done, the garage will be open @ 2 as I have half a day to work tomorrow. Left at 5 am today. Thought if I could average 130 mph on the old 86 VR that I might make it in time. Cops finally caught me half way though Kentucky, said they had been chasing me sence Columbus, Oh. They confiscated my bike. Now what am I going to ride. Its all your fault Squid.

well I mighta thought about it if we saw this say yesterday, and the cat didn't get sick, coulda made it by mid afternoon had we left out overnight.

It was great to see Roxie on the road again.

Note:Wished I coudda made the trip out there....Spent the better part of today doing a CVMA fund-raising Poker Run in Jennings,La. We are bringing the Moving Wall to Jennings in mid October for sure!!

Well, I was gonna be there, and did make it 1/2 way, but ran into some guy with a 99 RSV for sale and was forced to turn around to ride it back to Pearl, MS for a potential new member!!! :rotf::rotf:

Very nice afternoon yesterday! We met Dana and his lady Sarah (hope there's an "H" on that) very good folks. He was great to work with, very hands on guy, he pretty much did all the swap of his clutch himself. We just gave him a bit of guidance and morale support, he did real good

 

Ended up doing the clutch upgrade, tightened the steering head bearings and a carb sync. He insisted on taking all of us out to supper and we ended up at a little Mexican place we frequent down in Porter. Had a great meal with Zipcode, Dana and Sarah as well as my family. As always BS ensued and we could have probably spent another few hours doing more of it.

 

Really appreciated being able to spend some time with Dana and Sarah, as well as Dave and Owen. Dana will fit right in here, and were looking forward to spending some more time with he and his gal. Thanks again for dinner Dana, we'll catch up again soon I'm sure

I'm slow on the reply, just like how I arrived. :-) I expected to meet Dana, but his wife Sarah was a happy surprise, as was Owen. Dana and Sarah are excellent people, and it was a real pleasure to meet them.

 

I gather that my arrival signaled an end to the jawin' portion of the meet (ha!) and everyone got down to business. Dana had a few projects: change the clutch spring/plates, install an airhorn, and diagnose/fix a wobble with his front end.

 

 

Owen uses Squidley's fabulous T-wrenches... after we explain to Squidley how to use the handle. Dana had a new-to-me chrome piece where the horn mounts.

It was a pleasure to meet Dana, who not only is a bad-ass veteran, but interested in actually learning how to wrench his bike.

Dana was a Command Sargent Major in the US Army. You don't have to explain things twice to him. Our soldiers are always so impressive, but some more than others.

Dana had a slipping clutch, and his dealer couldn't fix it. WHT? So, he learned to replace the clutch plates and put in a stronger spring.

Owen turned the wrong way, into a cul-de-sac. We gave him a parade review when he passed by.

Squidley starts to make a bracket to hold on the BadBoy air horn. He clearly believes in using stout stock. Didn't get the horn on, when it was discovered he'd run out of the right size of electrical connectors.

Dana had a wobble in his front wheel. Squidley showed him how tighten them up in 10 minutes, rather than using the all-day procedure.

Dana learned that his gremlin bell was missing. Squidley gave him a VRO bell.

Shodding workmanship abounds on the repairs the dealer did to Roxie. Starting with the un-tightened battery cable to the missing fuses, to this: an unconnected Air Induction System hose. No wonder I have a loud backfire!

 

To reconnect it, I have to remove the exhaust system from the bike. And I'll do it, because I can do a better job fixing Roxie than the dealer. That just pisses me off.

All in all, it was a great afternoon! Thanks Dana and Sarah for the dinner! You really didn't have to buy mine, I was dead weight after all.

Sounds and looks like it was a great time!! Sorry I missed that one, I received my RSTD bars Friday, but was in the middle of trying to complete Janets Mothersday gift, only have one more coat of paint to go and I get to move it all to the front, try and dig 6 holes, in this concreate we call dirt, and then put it all back together... I may install the new bars next week...Dana, sorry I missed meeting ya`ll, but am sure we will cross paths one of these days.
