Bought my 02 with 29k on it last year and I just turned 51k.

The only things I have done is tires 3 rear 1 front brake pad rear 1 time and 8 oil-filter changes, changed rear oil 1 time(for fun) and lots of CHROME and stuff.

Owned a 1st Gen and had it 20 years 157k when sold and besides normal maintenance (tires, oil, filter, plugs, battery, brake pads) I had to replace the electronic module and the clutch,STEELER took me for a carb rebuild that he did not do.

Great bike and so is my 2nd GEN. Wife loves it as much as I do (she did not like the 1st gen):stirthepot: but I did.

Hope you like yours as much as the rest of us do.

One thing I know is if it wears a skirt or it takes gas you will have trouble with it at some point:rotf::rotf:.................................Ron

How many trouble free miles have you put on your RSV???Don't be shy....Brag away!!!!:feedback::thumbsup2:

"00 RSV MM - 97,500 miles (If you don't count two broken fork deflector brackets.):)

[edit] I replaced the shock, with the Performance Works shock, sometime after the warranty had expired, but with the miles I had on the OEM shock, I consider it normal maintenance.

1100 miles on the 07 and no problems yet! :stirthepot:

I do notice a consistent "rear shock" issue here though.

........ I have an '03 Midnight. First shock failed and was replaced under Warranty. When it started to fail, I drained the water thin, crappy oem fluid from it and replaced it with 2 ounces of MMO and 5.5 ouonces of 15W BelRay Suspension fluid. The additives sealed up the leak immediately and the "moaning" never returned. I have now ridden 2 seasons with no problems whatsoever and run 20 lbs of air.......... even with towing a Piggy-Backer trailer.

I also drained the crap out of my original failed shock and replaced it with the same ingredients. I don't think I will be needing it however.

Had three GoldWings a '75, a '77 & a '78. These were motorcycles! Now they are 2 wheeled cars! (To me anyway) My RSV is a 2008 with only 300 miles so far. I made this post because it looks like GoldWing has lost another customer. In fact, our GoldWing Dealer is VERY ARROGANT! Refuses to sell you any accessory if he finds out it's not for a Wing. I never knew Yamaha made a "Touring Bike", until the Honda guy ticked me off. Just FYI, our '75 Wing was a European model we sold there. The '77 was run over by a drunk driver with us on it. The '78 was sold when money got short. Back then we loved the Wings.

2000 Red (the fastest color) with 52,000 miles. Had to replace a starter solenoid under warranty, a clutch not under warranty, and then just maintenance items. If only your kids could be so reliable.

I love my bike - and my kids.

17,000 on my 07 Midnightand no problems. I do hear the rear shock when cold but will look into replacement sometime early in January.

Had a 97 wing before this and both were only check air pressure in tires & ride.
