Reddog170 Posted May 6, 2011 #1 Posted May 6, 2011 Well yesterday as I left a job interview I started hearing a weirn high pitched noise. I pulled into a gas station and checked things out. I could not find anything that may have caused the noise. I decided to baby the bike home and really get into things after it cooled down. Well I did not hear the noise again. Got home parked it in the garage and started digging through threads to find a starting point. About the time I thought it had cooled enough my wife got home. That is when I figured out the noise. I had gotten a new cell phone and was not used to the ringtone. She had tried to call hoping to catch me before I headed home. Lesson, always check the phone first then the bike. Thought you might get a laugh out of this. Shaun
Reddog170 Posted May 6, 2011 Author #3 Posted May 6, 2011 Well it could have been worse, I could have called a buddy to come with the truck and trailer. Shaun

Mike G in SC Posted May 6, 2011 #5 Posted May 6, 2011 Yep cell phones. What did we do for irritations 30 years ago? I chased a beep around my office for 30 minutes to realize it was a "low bat" tone on the phone in my pocket. Higher frequencies are harder to chase, hard to get a fix on them. And headed home last summer from the SC low country, I heard a high pitch screem as I was crossing a lonely swamp area of the Edisto River, was sure the engine was going to blow. The sun was going down, Sunday PM, and thinking, I was about to be broke down in Lizzard Man country. As I was about to pull off the road it hit me,,,, FROGS! Mike G
Marcarl Posted May 6, 2011 #6 Posted May 6, 2011 I often get weird noises when I ride,,,,,, but then I look around, realize who's ahead of me and behind me, and all my worries are gone!!!!!
Stache Posted May 6, 2011 #7 Posted May 6, 2011 My V* 950 (since traded) picked up a wierd buzzing sound one day. Only occurred at speed, stopped at idle. I rode around and rode around listening, trying to pinpoint it. Got off and revved the engine to listen. Pushed this pulled that shook the other thing. Couldnt find it. Next day the noise was gone. Couldn't see anything different. 3 days later it came back. Thats when it hit me. I was wearing my cold weather jacket. I keep a key in each of my 2 jackets just so I don't jave to go swapping around stuff... The key in my cold weather jacket had the little metal tab with the key number on it and that was vibrating against the ring aroung the ignition... Sometimes it's the silliest thing...

Flyinfool Posted May 6, 2011 #9 Posted May 6, 2011 I once had a terrible noise coming from the back of the bike. It was a really bad whining noise. After the divorce I never heard the noise again.........
