etcswjoe Posted April 30, 2011 #1 Posted April 30, 2011 Tried out the Honda DN-01 today weird bike, nice looking but an automatic and really small? http://powersports.honda.com/street/crossover.aspx
Freebird Posted April 30, 2011 #2 Posted April 30, 2011 Interesting look but starting at over 15,000.00 for a 680CC? Just seems a bit steep to me.
etcswjoe Posted April 30, 2011 Author #3 Posted April 30, 2011 I was looking at it for my daughter till I saw the price.
straycatt Posted April 30, 2011 #4 Posted April 30, 2011 I'm seeing these things advertised for less than $10K. They are NOT selling very well.
TearlessTom Posted April 30, 2011 #5 Posted April 30, 2011 Yes saw them on Ebay from a couple of dealers for around $8,000.
Hummingbird Posted April 30, 2011 #6 Posted April 30, 2011 That's a heck of a good looking starter bike for Donald Trumps kids or maybe Bill Gates kids if they had any
Snarley Bill Posted April 30, 2011 #7 Posted April 30, 2011 it was put out there as a test bed for the dual range dual clutch transmission. i don't think honda really cares about selling a bunch of them. it's similar to the tranny in the new fiesta and 2012 focus. an automatic with no torque converter.
TearlessTom Posted April 30, 2011 #8 Posted April 30, 2011 My wifes Murano has the same type minus the abality to shift preset gears , ...anyway it is very impressive to drive,. Feels a bit strange at 1st as when the car loads down like going up a hill the rpms go up but the speed remains steady, looks like it is slipping. Personally I like the bike's looks and ride position, Price is way over the top though.
Snarley Bill Posted April 30, 2011 #9 Posted April 30, 2011 i kind of think they priced it high so they would'nt sell to many. kind of like the v-max. they just want to get enough on the road to test the reliability of a new design.
Snarley Bill Posted April 30, 2011 #10 Posted April 30, 2011 the fiesta has a sealed transmission with no dip stick. i was going to buy one but i kind of like to maintain my transmission. they advertise that it will last up to 150,000 miles. scary thing is the phrase, up to. some day i guess we will have engines that require no maintenance. ive been working on an engine design that is mostly composite plastic and is glued together. no bolts very little machining, injection molded block and heads. basically a throw away engine. thats all i am going to say. my design would work, and cut a tremendous amount of production cost, and increase reliability. i think the composite material and adhesion technology is almost far enough along that my design will work.
Squidley Posted May 1, 2011 #11 Posted May 1, 2011 I do like the looks of it and would love to ride one, but the price is outrageous!
Snarley Bill Posted May 1, 2011 #12 Posted May 1, 2011 I do like the looks of it and would love to ride one, but the price is outrageous! i saw one at a local dealer. neat bike but as you said an outrageous price. honda ain't stupid. they have an alterier motive.
chabicheka Posted May 1, 2011 #14 Posted May 1, 2011 Personally I like the bike's looks and ride position, Price is way over the top though.
