The ignition cluster is held on by two bolts that can be reached using a long...14".. 1/4 drive extension and going up through the steering head area. There's a mass of wires to snake through but it can be done. To reinstall go buy a couple of hex head screws. Makes it easier to get the screw started again.

I think you'll need a 10mm socket on the end of all those extensions.

Access is horrible.

 

It is, though, quite easy to just swap out the upper section of the ignition switch, if that would help.
