shikano53 Posted April 28, 2011 #1 Posted April 28, 2011 Well I finally got my faring split. Turns out the hex bolts are 5mm on my 04 RSMV. Anyway with that being said can anyone tell me which connector is the Audio control unit connector? Thank you all for your help, it has been greatly appreciated. Chris
Seaking Posted April 28, 2011 #2 Posted April 28, 2011 I'm on a limb here saying it's the BLUE one.. However, it's not hard to trace the cable back under the stuff to make sure you got the right one.. I JUST had my fairing off last night to install a new windscreen too.. argh..
Freebird Posted April 28, 2011 #3 Posted April 28, 2011 I THINK it is the red one. It really doesn't matter because while you are in there, you should unplug them all and do the dielectric grease trick on all 5 of them. Here are some pictures that show what they look like. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=15370
Seaking Posted April 28, 2011 #4 Posted April 28, 2011 cough.. yes.. don't listen to me, I'm old and easily confused lol.. and I also have my controller cable connector cinched up using the 4 zip ties trick as well..
shikano53 Posted April 28, 2011 Author #5 Posted April 28, 2011 Guys, many thanks. I gotta start a new thread. You aren't gonna believe this... Chris

rumboogy Posted April 28, 2011 #7 Posted April 28, 2011 Yes...Freebird is absolutely correct...do them ALL while you are in there!!
shikano53 Posted April 28, 2011 Author #8 Posted April 28, 2011 Yes...Freebird is absolutely correct...do them ALL while you are in there!! This is a dumb question; How do you apply the dielectric grease? Do you slather it all around the inside of the five connectors or do you attempt to apply it very judiciously to the tip of each prong? I noticed that some of those connectors have quite a few pins inside them. Chris
BuddyRich Posted April 28, 2011 #9 Posted April 28, 2011 Put it on the female connector then slide it in and out a few time... Outta come natural... The Blue one is the lead to the controller on the handlebars
shikano53 Posted April 28, 2011 Author #11 Posted April 28, 2011 Thanks Mike, That's great. Everything is cleaned and reconnected. I am just waiting for my son-in-law to come over tonight and help me reinstall the driving light bar. I had a slight mishap. Chris
