Hulign Posted April 28, 2011 #26 Posted April 28, 2011 The 1500 vent I used was pretty close to the curve of the venture shield. The curve of it wasn't the issue at all. Frank

Frank Frank, I'm concluding that you got an OEM. And as a result you did not have to any customization to accomodiate thickness of the Yamaha windshield?
Hulign Posted April 28, 2011 #28 Posted April 28, 2011 I did have to customize the vent a bit. Because the windshield was too thick. I chose to machine the vent a bit so I didn't have to worry about scuffing the shield. I made the mounting part of the vent thinner. Frank
CaptainJoe Posted April 28, 2011 Author #29 Posted April 28, 2011 Just bought a GL1800 smoke vent at Country Chrome about 6 miles down the road, for $49.95. Got home took it apart and put up against the RSV windshield... Almost, a perfect match. about 1/16" of space at both ends indicating it could have been curved more. I'm betting the screws will be able to snug it down. (if not I have a heat gun and will bend it) Didn't do a thickness test yet. Will let you all know tomorrow how the install went.
