Phoneman1981 Posted April 26, 2011 #1 Posted April 26, 2011 Hello Everyone: I am trying to help another local rider. Does anyone have a set of bar end weights that were on a RSTD? Thanks....
Mike G in SC Posted April 26, 2011 #3 Posted April 26, 2011 The end weights on my 2006 RSTD are different from my 2009 RSV. The RSTD have a alan head bolt that goes through them and the shoulder is unthreaded. On my RSV, the weights are solid (no bolt) and are threaded on the shoulder to screw into the grips. So,, may be different. You may be able to tell from looking at the plastic plug on the end. The RSTD has a one about half dime size, the RSV is dime size. Mike G in SC

Freebird Posted April 27, 2011 #5 Posted April 27, 2011 I don't think so. My '99 has the same kind as you are picturing. I think he is saying that the RSTD weight have a allen head bolt that goes all the way through the weights and then into a threaded hole in the end of the bars. If I read it correctly.

Coulda swore that when I took the weights off my '99 I had to use a hex wrench to get them off, and those were the same type?? Guess not?? Halucinating again...
Freebird Posted April 27, 2011 #7 Posted April 27, 2011 No, you are correct. They do have a hole for a hex wrench under the chrome cap. It turns the entire weight to screw them off though. I think he is saying that the RSTD has a separate long bolt that goes all the way through the weights. The RSV is all one machined piece.
Freebird Posted April 27, 2011 #8 Posted April 27, 2011 I think that this is the diagram for the RSTD bars and weights. You will see that item 4 is a long allen head bolt. The RSV does not have this bolt, they are a one piece machined piece. http://www.partshark.com/fiche_section_detail.asp?section=75066&category=Motorcycles&make=YAMAHA&year=2005&fveh=1732 Here is the list for the RSV, it does not have the bolt but the end of the weights are actually threaded instead. http://www.partshark.com/fiche_section_detail.asp?section=557621&category=motorcycles&make=YAMAHA&year=2008&fveh=12947
TDbiker Posted April 27, 2011 #9 Posted April 27, 2011 Hi Mark, I've got the weights from my RSTD that I'm no longer in need of.
