wayward ron Posted April 25, 2011 #1 Posted April 25, 2011 I have a vibration in my 07rstd that starts at 65 and continually gets worse as speed increases. The vibration is felt mostly in my eyes and makes everything blury. any sugestions? Ron:shock3:
muaymendez1 Posted April 25, 2011 #2 Posted April 25, 2011 Is this a new problem. I mean is it a new bike to you. start with anything you changed from, windshield to helmet, riding position, Sounds like a wind buffeting problem.

Try changing the position of your head... no smart remarks now... scrunch down in the seat, lean forward, lean back, see if it changes. Also see if you can feel where the air flow is coming from with your hand. Most times it is coming up just above your knee. Do you have the lower wind deflectors on the front? How about the lower deflectors on the faring? Are you running a short wind shield? I had the same problem with a Road Star I once owned. Took me forever to find and correct the air flow problem. Of course, I could be completely off track...
wayward ron Posted April 25, 2011 Author #4 Posted April 25, 2011 I dont think the vibration is from wind. I am short so I am behind my wind screen and I keep my legs tucked in. This effects my wife as well in the same way. I have had this sence new, and the dealership here tells me they cant find anything. I am old but not so much nuts.
Marcarl Posted April 25, 2011 #5 Posted April 25, 2011 If it's not the wind, I would go for tire balance, or on the off chance a bad brake rotor. Both these may not be noticed at slow speeds, but might show up at higher speeds.
V7Goose Posted April 25, 2011 #6 Posted April 25, 2011 Sounds like tire imbalance to me - and VERY significant imbalance. I can detect a slight imbalance, usually a speeds above 70, but the way you describe it, I'd think you are several ounces off on one wheel. Goose

Ron:shock3: If it's not tire imbalance as Goose suggested or the wind buffetting.. my only question is "are you wearing glasses?" Sometimes the wind comes up from your legs and starts to rattle your glasses just enough to impair vision without you feeling the wind. I had a buddy suffer from that problem and after so much trouble shooting, he wore goggles over his glasses and that's how he discovered the real issues. Any vibration noticed in your mirrors at the same time?
Brake Pad Posted April 26, 2011 #8 Posted April 26, 2011 my front tire, weights were off slightly, I had the removed, and the tire rebalanced, not as bouncy anymore. also check the front forks (4 lbs) make sure handle bars are not lose. give the fairing a shake? I have the same bike and the same issues
