My plastic gear for the odo is worn out so it wont turn the steel shaft and the odo doesen't work :(

What to do? Find a good used speedo at ebay or can it be fixed? I was thinking something like using a glue gun and adding material to the plastic gear and try to reshape it...

I would think with the MANY revolution it sees, there's really only the options of replacement gears or replace the unit. Quick fixes here just don't sound right.

I agree. These units show up on ebay pretty cheap sometimes.

I have tried to fix 2 of these units and been unsuccessful. That doesn't mean it can't be done but I couldn't figure one out.The problem is that the gears are held in place by a punch mark in the mounting holder and removing the mark also removes enough material that I couldn't put in a new punch.I ended up replacing the unit off ebay.I now grease that gear on a regularly with LaBelles 109 locomotive grease an item found in hobby shops that sell model railroading supplies. It is plastic compatable and will not cause the gear to become brittle.
