BigBear Posted April 18, 2011 #1 Posted April 18, 2011 I had a little noticeable "bounce" in the steering head...first thought..check air pressure... The first side I checked was 5 psi...other side 7 psi. When I went to relieve some pressure from the 7 psi side, I had both a small amount of oil and air escape the schraeder valve. Question -> Should OIL be coming out of the air schraeder valve? Is this normal?
Squidley Posted April 18, 2011 #2 Posted April 18, 2011 I have never seen or heard of oil coming out of the upper schrader valve on the forks. How much oil came out?
BigBear Posted April 18, 2011 Author #3 Posted April 18, 2011 I have never seen or heard of oil coming out of the upper schrader valve on the forks. How much oil came out? About the equivalent of a drop ('cause it sprayed)...but it was enough to wet my finger tip...smelled like light-weight machine oil.
Marcarl Posted April 18, 2011 #4 Posted April 18, 2011 Maybe time to check the oil level to make sure it's right. Personally, I wouldn't worry about a drop, that might have got caught up in the valve somehow,, but any more than that would suggest too much oil in the fork. Maybe you could put some more air in the fork, and then let it out,,, than there should not be any oil.
Freebird Posted April 18, 2011 #5 Posted April 18, 2011 If that's all it was, I sure wouldn't worry about it. I actually HAVE had that happen on mine and have never seen any problems from it.
heatonmt Posted April 19, 2011 #7 Posted April 19, 2011 I was adding air to back shocks on my new bike and the Manuel sad to put in 3lbs of air before letting any out to keep a small amount of oil from coming out. could be the same on the venture front end.
