Owen Posted April 17, 2011 #1 Posted April 17, 2011 Working as Motorcycle Marshal in MS-150 this weekend. Saturday after a long day of herding 'cats', my bike showed signs of a dead battery. Volt meter showed 10v on battery. Had been running about 200 miles at slow speed/low rpms. Jump started bike and headed to the freeway for some normal riding. Battery replaced a week ago just as preventive maintenance. Shut down all accessories and lights. Running at speed showed about 12v initially but continued to drop. Decided to make a run for home, about 100 miles. Made it home, battery voltage at only 8v. Guess the stator or regulator has failed. Off to the dealer for warranty repair on Tuesday. Horrible I was unable to participate in the second half of the MS-150...

Horrible I was unable to participate in the second half of the MS-150... Sounds like warranty to me,,,, but then maybe just a loose plug coming from the stator,(3 wires), or maybe the plug coming from the regulator to the battery,,,, or maybe just so simple as a loose connection at the battery.
