aharbi Posted April 17, 2011 #1 Posted April 17, 2011 Just returned from seven days of riding the Ozarks, Missouri and Oklahoma. Some of the best riding I have ever experienced (not scenery but roads, the scenery ain't bad). Twists, turns, up hills down hills, switchbacks. Ft Smith, Harrison, Jasper, Mt Judea, Pig Trail, Eureka Springs, Branson, Yellville, Tahlequah, Sallisaw. 2,500 miles of fun. Had no idea such great riding existed in that area. I have 1,300 pictures and over 5GB of videos. It will take me some time to sort, edit and post them. The folks were "Texas friendly" and the prices for food and lodging were very reasonable. Now that I know a little bit more about the area I'm going to ride it again. We had mapped out all the routes on our GPS prior to the trip but changed plans once there taking the routes suggested by the local folks. We used these the most often: Let's Ride Motorcycle Riding Guide of the Ozarks PDF Map files Next time I will stay in the Jasper area.
BOO Posted April 17, 2011 #2 Posted April 17, 2011 That is absolutely some of my favorite riding. There just seems to be road after road of really good riding. BOO
okiestar Posted April 17, 2011 #3 Posted April 17, 2011 Our favorite areas too and we're blessed to be a couple hours from it. We'll be in Eureka soon and definitely the end of June for the Meet and Greet. Glad you had a safe, good time!
Godlover Posted April 17, 2011 #4 Posted April 17, 2011 My wife and I plan to spend a week down there in May. Since she won't ride I will leave the bike at home.
wehrd1 Posted April 17, 2011 #5 Posted April 17, 2011 The other motorcycle board i belong to, have riding meet & greets at The Hub in Marble Falls, AR 2ce a year. the next one is June 2 - 5. It's owned by 2 of the nicest people you'll ever want to meet & know. http://www.hubinfo.com/ The funest road around is Hwy 123, and the AR 'dragon'....it's not only very very twisty, but it's elevation rises a LOT in a very short distance. so not only is it twisty, it's STEEP. very exciting road. http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l20/wehrd1/fall%202008%20BrVR%20rally/theyarentkidding-1.jpg

We had the VR International rally at the Hub 2 years ago. I cut my teeth riding motorcycles in south central Missouri, going to college at Rolla and my Grandparents and parents retired to Mtn. Home AR. Beautiful country. Winters can be brisk compared to Georgia, so I think I'll stay put here.

Caveman Posted April 18, 2011 #8 Posted April 18, 2011 Me and several friends will be heading up that way May 6th thru the 12th. We were going to go last year and decided to go to TN due to of all things remnants of a hurricane. Can't wait to get there this year...Woo-Hoo!
wehrd1 Posted April 18, 2011 #9 Posted April 18, 2011 The Hub is an awesome place to stay...and some of the best prime rib you'll sink your teeth into at their on site restaurant, Scooters.
bmxndad Posted April 18, 2011 #10 Posted April 18, 2011 Was out there in 2006, great riding for sure. Just about any road is great. We saw some road warning signs I have never seen before We need to get back soon.
