twigg Posted April 16, 2011 #1 Posted April 16, 2011 If you could add one tool, or piece of equipment to your shop, what would it be. Add a second choice too if you like In my case I would like a motorcycle lift. I am way past the point where kneeling on the floor is fun. Please feel free to link this thread to anyone who might consider you at Christmas and Birthday
eagleeye Posted April 16, 2011 #2 Posted April 16, 2011 Horizontal band saw for me. My small motorcycle lift works just fine for me.
SilvrT Posted April 16, 2011 #3 Posted April 16, 2011 About the only other thing that comes to mind that I sometimes wish I had is a Mig welder. Not that I'd use it much but there have been times when it would have come in handy. As for the second choice, gimme a paint booth and some quality equipment, including a few air brushes as I'd LOVE to experiment and learn more with custom painting.
Freebird Posted April 16, 2011 #4 Posted April 16, 2011 I would like to have a nice table lift as well. That is something that I hope to add sometime this year.
bongobobny Posted April 16, 2011 #5 Posted April 16, 2011 Yah!! A welder would be nice!! So would a lathe! Or a milling machine! A lift would be nice but I get along OK with my mechanic's stool and besides, I don't think they make a lift for a trike...
twigg Posted April 16, 2011 Author #6 Posted April 16, 2011 I would like to have a nice table lift as well. That is something that I hope to add sometime this year. Just the ease of removing the back wheel makes it all worthwhile I think they all have a removable plate there ... make sure the one you get does. Second the Mig Welder ... I'd add a lathe and milling machine, but I wouldn't use them enough.

We were tping at the same time EDIT: A four post lift with a cross beam would take the trike
Squidley Posted April 16, 2011 #8 Posted April 16, 2011 A Bridgeport Milling Machine and a paint booth
hipshot Posted April 16, 2011 #9 Posted April 16, 2011 a V-7 GOOSE, just to keep my bike in good working order! lol just jt
JerryT Posted April 16, 2011 #10 Posted April 16, 2011 My first vote would be for a larger garage itself. Just have a 2 car and not near enough room. Can't add on to the one I have so I guess a new place goes with it.
twigg Posted April 16, 2011 Author #12 Posted April 16, 2011 A cold beer dispenser. I have one of those .... Her name is Jodie
KiteSquid Posted April 16, 2011 #15 Posted April 16, 2011 A real good 7 axis CNC Milling Machine... or better.... Maybe like the one in [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uh3wHR3z1IE&feature=related]THIS[/ame] YouTube video
oldgoat Posted April 16, 2011 #16 Posted April 16, 2011 well first i need a garage. as i live in an apartment second thing i need is a full time mechanic who is willing to work for no pay just a hand shake a thank you and ice cream any takers on the second ?
MidlifeVenture Posted April 16, 2011 #17 Posted April 16, 2011 A Shop Smith Mark V and a time machine to make time to do all the things in my head.
ragtop69gs Posted April 16, 2011 #18 Posted April 16, 2011 4 post hoist and a tig welder would be tops on my list.
1 Canuck Posted April 17, 2011 #20 Posted April 17, 2011 Got the garage, got most of the tools I need, got most of the know-how...but I don't have the time or the energy after working all day.
Marcarl Posted April 17, 2011 #21 Posted April 17, 2011 what I really need is a Phillips screwdriver that doesn't strip out the screw heads, a flat screwdriver that doesn't dig out parts of ones hand, and hammer that doesn't smash everything to pieces. Ya, that's all,,,,,,, for now.
Flyinfool Posted April 17, 2011 #22 Posted April 17, 2011 I would really love to convert my mill to CNC 5 axis. I could then use the same controller to convert my Lathe to CNC. Second thought would be a garage so that I can still work on the bike when the weather is bad.
Guest Zak202 Posted April 17, 2011 #23 Posted April 17, 2011 A bike lift and maybe a drill press. I already have a great set of tools and a welder. The lift is definitely the next 'big' purchase.
