E-Fishin-C Posted April 12, 2011 #1 Posted April 12, 2011 This is what they classify as Stunt Driving - lifting any tire from the surface of the road (wheelies or stoppies) - intentionally causing any tire to lose traction while turning (skids or drifting) - having the intention of causing a vehicle to spin (not sure how they're going to measure intentions...) - driving a vehicle in oncoming lanes next to another vehicle longer than is "resonably" required to pass - driving with someone in the trunk (not sure what this has to do with racing or stunting) - driving while not sitting in the driver's seat - driving more than 50kph (approx. 30mph) over the speed limit - driving in a way that prevents others from passing - slowing down with the intention of slowing or interfering with another vehicle - driving with the inention of driving as close as possible to a vehicle, pedestrian or fixed object (i'm not sure what this one is about) - jumping a left turn at a green light before allowing straight-through traffic to proceed So what used to be considered "aggressive driving" falls under "stunt driving" now. Some of these are easily seen on the roads - people making left turns on green before straight-through traffic, slowing on purpose to block others..
bongobobny Posted April 12, 2011 #2 Posted April 12, 2011 Sooo, ahhhh, Charlie, which one did you get a ticket for???

darthandy Posted April 12, 2011 #10 Posted April 12, 2011 How much is the fine for stunt driving? This is the info from the Ontario Ministry of Transport: "The legislation includes tough measures for those who choose to race on Ontario’s roads, including higher fines and longer suspensions: The maximum fine increases from $1,000 to $10,000 upon conviction for street racing, making it the highest penalty in Canada. The minimum fine increases from $200 to $2,000. Police can issue an immediate seven-day driver’s licence suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment for street racing, participating in a driving contest or stunt driving. Courts can impose a driver licence suspension of up to 10 years for a second conviction, if the second conviction occurs within 10 years of the first. For a first conviction, the maximum licence suspension period remains at 2 years. The definition of a “driving stunt” includes driving a motor vehicle at 50 km/h or more above the posted speed limit. The Act also bans driving a motor vehicle on a highway with a connected nitrous oxide system. Some street racers use nitrous oxide to enhance the acceleration capabilities of their vehicles." Some have challenged and won their case as the law can be triggered in ways that weren't meant to be included - e.g. passing a semi on a two lane road with an 80 KPH speed limit and reaching a speed of 130 KPH or more during the maneuver. Doing so at a much reduced speed would actually be more dangerous as the driver is in the oncoming lane for a greater length of time. (This actually happened to a 62 year old grandmother and the charge against her was overturned.) So...beware when riding in Ontario.
Flyinfool Posted April 12, 2011 #11 Posted April 12, 2011 I think I'll just stay south of the border......
Gary N. Posted April 12, 2011 #12 Posted April 12, 2011 In our county it's very common now to hear about people getting the licence suspension and car impounded for the 50 kph (30 mph) over speeding offence. Mainly on the 401 but also on the other hwy's.

Mainly on the 401 but also on the other hwy's. According to the "RoadRules" site, from Sept. 30, 2007 (Start date) to April 12, 2010 (A year ago today!), the Ontario Provincial Police (Equivalent of U.S. State Police) had issued 12,000 stunt driving charges! Then of course, there are the various municipal police forces! How can our provincial government still be in a deficit position?
midnightventure Posted April 12, 2011 #14 Posted April 12, 2011 I believe Charley ( like me) has a dual sport. Lifting the front end especially when going from first to second just happens sometimes. They aren't going to go up high but they definitely come up.

I think thats mostly in Ontario, we do have our own laws outside of Ontario.,....Fines are steep here in SK too, but that stunting crap is only on ONtario. PLease dont include the rest of us Canadians into Ontario...... Brian Edited April 12, 2011 by friesman
Reddog170 Posted April 12, 2011 #16 Posted April 12, 2011 Hmmm no lifting the front tire, done it. No speeds over 30 mph over the limit, I plead the 5th on that, no breaking traction, well I better stay home this next winter. Shaun
gibvel Posted April 12, 2011 #17 Posted April 12, 2011 Charlie, Maybe it's time to get back on a second Gen.
OldBear Posted April 13, 2011 #18 Posted April 13, 2011 Charlie, Maybe it's time to get back on a second Gen. OR pull a plug wire on the Feejer...
E-Fishin-C Posted April 13, 2011 Author #19 Posted April 13, 2011 Definite "idiot" here. as if you ever didnt go over the speed limit
E-Fishin-C Posted April 13, 2011 Author #20 Posted April 13, 2011 OR pull a plug wire on the Feejer... I did ...I did!!!!! runs like a venture, You dont know if you are actually only running on 3 cylinders
Trader Posted April 13, 2011 #21 Posted April 13, 2011 I never thought jumping the left turn to be dangerous. You can often be gone before they are even starting to pull away. I understand if you jump BEFORE the green....or if you have to cross 2 oncoming lanes....but on a 2 lane road.....I can't see the problem.
twigg Posted April 13, 2011 #22 Posted April 13, 2011 as if you ever didnt go over the speed limit What on earth are you talking about?
Reddog170 Posted April 13, 2011 #23 Posted April 13, 2011 Lets hope the7y never get ahold of this website. They could issue tickets for a long time just off our own confessions. Shaun
Freebird Posted April 13, 2011 #24 Posted April 13, 2011 What on earth are you talking about? Don't worry about it. Charlie sometimes misses the fine nuances and/or fun sarcasm that is obvious to most. You have to be here a while to truly understand him.
