islandmech Posted April 12, 2011 #1 Posted April 12, 2011 I was wondering how many Gen 1 Ventures are left out there? How many were sold over the production run until new style came along? Just curious ..... cheers, gary
Reddog170 Posted April 12, 2011 #2 Posted April 12, 2011 I have no idea but if it helps, I have a MK1. Shaun
friesman Posted April 12, 2011 #3 Posted April 12, 2011 my 85 is still around and running well. It won best vintage bike at a Diabetes rally last summer. Brian
elmicko Posted April 12, 2011 #4 Posted April 12, 2011 My 1st Gen is still going strong and now belongs to my cousin and her husband.
Yammer Dan Posted April 12, 2011 #5 Posted April 12, 2011 I got a few. 2 on the road and 3 or 4 waiting on me.
Condor Posted April 12, 2011 #6 Posted April 12, 2011 My son's riding my old '83VR and I have the '91VR's running strong. The other 4 are 'kit' bikes... So there's six if you're keeping count....
easternrider Posted April 12, 2011 #7 Posted April 12, 2011 I know of four right here in my town. All are 84's It's funny that you inquired about that, I was just wondering the same thing.
oldgoat Posted April 12, 2011 #8 Posted April 12, 2011 my 1984 is just about done. its on the road now. just some minor fixes here and there. and could use a paint job. clear coat flakeing off and sun fade. and a carb sync. and i be good to go.
saddlebum Posted April 12, 2011 #9 Posted April 12, 2011 my buddy (not a Member) rides an 84 and I still ride my 89 so thats 2 more
easternrider Posted April 12, 2011 #10 Posted April 12, 2011 I was wondering how many Gen 1 Ventures are left out there? How many were sold over the production run until new style came along? Just curious ..... cheers, gary I have an 84 VR, and am wondering how many had the same mirror base. If enough people were interested, I am looking to have the base moulded, so I can mount any mirror. If you read this and are interested, can you spread the word (this could be cost effective) __________________
Freebird Posted April 12, 2011 #11 Posted April 12, 2011 Nobody knows how many were produced. For some reason, Yamaha refuses to release production numbers on their bikes.
paysaw Posted April 12, 2011 #12 Posted April 12, 2011 I have an 83 thats still running strong. There another one!!!
Ndiaz Posted April 12, 2011 #13 Posted April 12, 2011 I've had my 88 Venture Royale on the road since September, 2008. Running well. Of its 71,000 miles, 25,000 are mine. Nick Diaz Middletown, MD
GolfVenture Posted April 12, 2011 #14 Posted April 12, 2011 I have an 89, but it won't start. Must have been a tough winter for it.
rjg1985 Posted April 12, 2011 #15 Posted April 12, 2011 I have an 85 with the engine from an 87. So I guess that means one gave it's life so another could live.
Wizard765 Posted April 12, 2011 #16 Posted April 12, 2011 Mine's an 84 and I really like this bike...
Condor Posted April 12, 2011 #17 Posted April 12, 2011 I have an 85 with the engine from an 87. So I guess that means one gave it's life so another could live. I can do one better... My '84 has an '83 Vin#, and an '86 motor....
friesman Posted April 12, 2011 #18 Posted April 12, 2011 I have an 84 VR, and am wondering how many had the same mirror base. If enough people were interested, I am looking to have the base moulded, so I can mount any mirror. If you read this and are interested, can you spread the word (this could be cost effective) __________________ I think all the G1's had the same mirrors and bases. I would be interested in a sort of adapter plate base as mirrors are getting hard to find plus I would like a style that moves it out a bit wider. Brian
KenP Posted April 12, 2011 #20 Posted April 12, 2011 Same as Condor....1984 model with an 83VIN# and an 88 motor...
Midicat Posted April 12, 2011 #23 Posted April 12, 2011 The first one Ser# 1 is still on the road How do you know that for sure? I'm curious. Thomas
ddoggma Posted April 13, 2011 #25 Posted April 13, 2011 Yo, my 88 is running well. But I do need to address a couple things. Hopefully, I can get some cash up to fix my scoot.
