Freebird Posted April 9, 2011 Share #1 Posted April 9, 2011 Some of you may be having problems accessing the site. I have wasn't able to access it for a while either. I have spoken to our hosting company and it is NOT a problem with our actual site but a routing issue that they are working on. Hopefully things will be back to normal soon. Apparently there is an issue with some routers somewhere along the Colorado border. Here is what I was told: We are experiencing a 20gbit DDoS attack and we are working to resolve the issue. You will be updated in this ticket when more information is known.
V7Goose Posted April 9, 2011 Share #2 Posted April 9, 2011 Don, any chance you are using Firefox 4.0? I ask because I have found an insidious problem where it just stops responding, and it is not site specific. Usually this shows up as no links working (just get a split second flash on the refresh button, no matter what you click on), but sometimes you get a timeout error or cannot access error. So if you are using FF4, it might not be the site at all. And if you have not yet upgraded to 4.0, DO NOT! Goose

V7Goose Posted April 9, 2011 Share #4 Posted April 9, 2011 Thanx Tom, at least that tends to confirm that it is a real site problem. This Firefox 4.0 is sooo bad, I cannot tell what to believe when I have any problem - getting ready to go back to 3.1.16! Goose

Freebird Posted April 9, 2011 Author Share #6 Posted April 9, 2011 That's interesting. I'm using Firefox 4 and having no issues that I know of. This was indeed a problem with our host though. It was not the server but a router somewhere. I was on our hosts forum and there were MANY people with the same issue, not just us. They seem to have it resolved now but it may happen again before they get it all sorted out.
V7Goose Posted April 9, 2011 Share #7 Posted April 9, 2011 That's interesting. I'm using Firefox 4 and having no issues that I know of. Can't say for sure what exactly the problems are with this new release, but it seems that it may be related to the way I use it - I constantly have 8 or more tabs open on sites I check regularly, but I do not check all of them every day. More often than not, if I am actively checking and switching between a couple of sites, all those sites work fine, but if I decide to check out one of the tabs that I haven't visited for over a day, it and other idle tabs are completely dead, but the ones that have been active continue to work fine. Finding dead tabs has been a daily event for me since I upgraded, so it absolutely seems to be related to FF4. Goose
Condor Posted April 9, 2011 Share #8 Posted April 9, 2011 I've been having problems with everything running slower than a cob lately, using i.e.8. House wifi was fine. Yesterday I downloaded Google Earth to play with, and inadvertantly picked the one with Google Chrome. I don't use Chrome, but now everything is running a warp speed using i.e.8. Haven't got a clue???

Freebird Posted April 9, 2011 Author Share #11 Posted April 9, 2011 Kent may have touched on the issue. It may well be the way he uses it. Unlike him, I seldom have more than one tab open and never more than two or three and that is always temporary. Also, I use my laptop 100% of the time, don't even have a desktop system, and because I travel so much, I never have the same connection for longer than a weekend. Even then, I close my browser unless I am online. So, I can't say what kind of problems I would have if I were using mine the way he does.

Goose I am using 4.0 and Chrome, prefer Chrome. 4.0, so far tons better than the old 3.9.* whatever, those kept locking up in the last couple of months, then all of sudden come blasting thru. So far no lock issue with 4.
