GigaWhiskey Posted April 8, 2011 Share #1 Posted April 8, 2011 Can someone upload a pic here of what the cable looks like from the cb to the tuner on a 1st gen? Good pics of the ends would be nice too. I am trying to buy one and I want to make sure it is what I will get. Thanks y'all!

dingy Posted April 9, 2011 Share #3 Posted April 9, 2011 Get a hold of BongoBobNy. When he stopped here last year on his way to get RSV triked, I gave him a cable that may be what you are after. I think he may have been using it in Goldie, so it may be inaccessible by now. Gary
bongobobny Posted April 9, 2011 Share #4 Posted April 9, 2011 Yah!! Inaccessable, but I'll try to dig it out of the box and take a picture for you. It is a DIN cable, plugs into the power amp, not the tuner, is right angle, and plugs into the back of the CB. You also need the power cable for the CB unit as well, and the splitter or separate antenna for CB... PS Gary I think the cable I got from you was an intercom cable but I can't remember

GigaWhiskey Posted April 9, 2011 Author Share #6 Posted April 9, 2011 puttin a cb in Brownie? Hows she running for ya? Brian I have had the CB for a while. That was one of things I was missing. She runs good. Rainey did not wanna come home after that ride a few weeks ago. You and Brownie doing good?

PS Gary I think the cable I got from you was an intercom cable but I can't remember I was figuring it was as you described. I had better check to see if I have that power connector in the fairing. It has been so long now I cannot remember. If you could dig that out (at least it is not on the bike yet, lol) and snap a pic, that would be awesome! Thanks bong! friesman Posted April 9, 2011 Share #8 Posted April 9, 2011 Yep Just got her back from getting all new throttle cables and some other maintenance work done And its been great riding to work and around town last few days. Today just had the Class issue raise its head with the 88 issue so I guess I have to try to do some soldering on the weekend, will be a good chance to try out how the eye works on close up stuff.... GigaWhiskey Posted April 9, 2011 Author Share #9 Posted April 9, 2011 puttin a cb in Brownie? Hows she running for ya? Brian I am on the fence about letting her go finally. I have been aggravated with things surrounding her the last couple years. I have brought it up to Erika a few times and she flat out says NO. lol. I am actually getting tired of her (the bike). Heck, I spend more time on her bike now. I really like it. It makes me feel young again.
Marcarl Posted April 9, 2011 Share #10 Posted April 9, 2011 This is the end that plugs into the CB unit. I made up my own so that I could run it through the faring and so try to get less static. I powered mine from the radio leads so that I had constant power to keep the preset, so the channel stays where you put it, otherwise it goes back to channel 9 everytime you shut it off. I did away with the splitter thought and now run 2 antennas. Looks better that way too, must be because Yammie decided on 2 for the second gens,, they had to have soemthing good looking! PS I put on my own power connector.

GigaWhiskey Posted April 9, 2011 Author Share #14 Posted April 9, 2011 Can I get some help identifying parts? Please What does the electrical connection go to? I do not recall having one of these cables. http://i1233.photobucket.com/albums/ff400/cablesforventure/cables003.jpg Does it go to this? Is this the drivers setup? And what shape would you call this in by looking at it? http://i1233.photobucket.com/albums/ff400/cablesforventure/cables004.jpg What is this metal thing? Is this the mount for the CB? I can clean it up if it looks rotten. http://i1233.photobucket.com/albums/ff400/cablesforventure/cables005.jpg Is this the part I am looking for? http://i1233.photobucket.com/albums/ff400/cablesforventure/cables002.jpg I do appreciate your responses! Freebird Posted April 9, 2011 Share #15 Posted April 9, 2011 Here is a link to the CB installation manual. It will probably answer a lot of your questions. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=47845
bongobobny Posted April 9, 2011 Share #16 Posted April 9, 2011 Pic 1, never seen before Pic 2 is the Passenger controller pic 3 is the splitter between the radio and CB when using a combined CB/Radio antenna, looks like somebody snipped the maqin lead from the antenna pic 4 should be the interface between the CB and power amp I take it I don't need to take a picture of the cable then. Good thing, I'm busy with yard work and we are going out for dinner/dancing this eve...

It will probably answer a lot of your questions. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=47845 I forgot I had the hard copy of that. Thanks for reminding me! The schematics show for MKI's and maybe why it does not have the passenger controls setup and why that first pic does not look familiar.

That metal thing in pic 3 looks like it might be the frame that holds the CB but looks different than in the guide.
DragonRider Posted April 9, 2011 Share #19 Posted April 9, 2011 That is the support bracket that the cb unit goes into. Looks like you have most of the parts you need.

Yep, if you have a source for old keyboard din5 cables youre gonna save some cash. In your defence Geekdom is getting to be a pretty big job definition that covers a lot of ground.
