Oil pan, bolts, o-rings, gaskets, bolts and more bolts, brake fluid, farings, windshield, you know, I got 'er done but not done done,,,,, I'll let Wayne tell you what happened, he types better than me.

Wizard765 Posted April 2, 2011 #12 Posted April 2, 2011 So far this second gear repair has been "interesting" Getting the motor out was fine except getting the pipes out of the collector. After beating on them for a few weeks we finally got them apart and the engine on the bench. Ordered gaskets and "O" rings from Skydoc (thanks Earl) and our wonderfull customs played with the package for about a month after we paid EXTRA for priority post so that the stuff would get here while I remembered where the stuff went. So now we are assembling and figuring it out as we go. Carl is a real trouper. (thanks Carl) Anyhow got the tranny back together and into the bike. Started to look around for some other stuff to put back together. Found a clutch slave and even found where it was suppose to go. Looked around for the socket head bolts that hold it in and one of them was broke. Took a look and low and behold the broken part is still in the hole. Can't get a drill into that area. I left Carl's the other night somewhat worried but he said he could "do it" Now I'm hoping that "getting her done" is what he meant here...

What nights and times do you work on bike in case I have a chance I might come down and give some moral support and help.Depends on what wife has on her mind. I can't promise anything but I will try.

It would be AWESOME to see you Phil. Actually anyone wanting to put their 2 cents in or lend a hand would be welcome... Of course I should let Carl chime in here since it is his place.. But I know he likes company...

We thought to leave that part off,,,, easier to change the oil (no plug to strip out) and it gives better ground clearance for going over curbs. Ya that's about it,, almost, broke the easy out off as well, just to add to the time factor and frustration. Lucky I had drilles right through the bolt so I drove the broken piece of the easy out right through, redrilled the hole, retapped the threads, inserted an 8 mm bolt, and now it done. Ahhhhhhh...... Been there done that! It's been fun,,,, but I got NEW TOOLS!!!!! I wish you guys all the luck. I thought it was Carl's bike he was working on. sleepy2 Posted April 2, 2011 #17 Posted April 2, 2011 You said you couldn't get the drill in where you wanted and thought that maybe a right angle adapter (Canadian Tire sells them for around $30 I think and maybe Princess Auto ((will be going there today and will check)) will be able to reach in where you need to go. This afternoon doesn't look good as friend asked to go to London to look for spare hard-drive back-up but will try for Wed.
sleepy2 Posted April 6, 2011 #18 Posted April 6, 2011 Went to Princes Auto but they don't carry the right angle adapter anymore. Will check with Canadian Tire. Looks OK for coming down tonight but with weather it probably won't be on bike(#$%#%% weather)
