RKnight Posted March 31, 2011 #1 Posted March 31, 2011 Hi, I am glad to have found your site. This forum looks greeat. I have a question, if I want to let other member know of the 1984 Venture I am parting out what is the best way to do that. I tried to click on the classifieds forum but it would not let me post. Do I have to be a paid member out of the trial period to do that? Thanks for the help in advance! Rick
royalstar09 Posted March 31, 2011 #4 Posted March 31, 2011 (edited) Welcome Rick and let me tell you from experience here. When I "stumbled" upon this site I not only was obviously new here, but new to the Royal Star Venture I bought. It took me all of about an hour to decide I didn't like this site, but NEEDED this site. The small amount of money it takes to join is really nothing compared to the benefits you receive. I had one topic save me enough to pay for about 5 yrs worth or subscription fees. I have been a auto tech for 20 yrs and know good information don't come free because good information is worth paying for, but I was surprised at how cheap the annual fee was here. The little fee to subscribe "IN MY OPINION ONLY" has made this place stand out above the other venture sites I tried out because to me it seems to attract the more serious people. So in short do not hesitate to climb on board here. You will enjoy everything except for all the goodies these guys/gals keep pointing out that cost us money because we "cant live without them.... bongobobny Posted March 31, 2011 #5 Posted March 31, 2011 We're always interested in parts!!! Whatcha got??? You can always start a thread in the 1st gen tech section to zero in on that group, or spring for the $12, I guarantee it will be money well spent!! Lotsa good technical support here, and great fellowship as well!!!!!
etcswjoe Posted March 31, 2011 #6 Posted March 31, 2011 I agree lot's of great tech help, however even if you never ask a single tech question the people you meet on here will make it worth while. I have been on here 6 mos and have had a blast.
fwbpastor Posted March 31, 2011 #7 Posted March 31, 2011 Agreed. I am a new owner of a 08 RSV and I have learned so much and received a lot of help by many on this board. Many Thanks.
Freebird Posted March 31, 2011 #8 Posted March 31, 2011 It goes back to the same issue we had a couple of days ago with a new member joining up and immediately posting about a product that he was developing and asking people to contact him if they were interested. It is a thin line to walk. On one hand, there is always interest here in any used parts for these bikes. On the other hand, we don't encourage people joining up as trial members just to sell things here. That is why the classifieds are set so that only supporting members can post ads. It's a tough call sometimes. I know that we have many here who would be interested in the parts but on the other hand, this site would be FULL of strangers signing up as trial members for no other reason that to post things for sale. Also note that the trial membership is for 60 days but that does not mean that you HAVE to wait 60 days to become a supporting member. You can do that at any time. That is really the only option if you wish to post things for sale because posting classifieds is discouraged in the tech areas and are typically deleted.
