sarges46 Posted November 22, 2007 #1 Posted November 22, 2007 Guys and gals: Looking at the "specs" for the swivel hitch offered by Neosho I see that the insert is a nylon block. Any comments good or bad on this material being used in this situation? Thanks for the feedback.
Condor Posted November 22, 2007 #2 Posted November 22, 2007 Guys and gals: Looking at the "specs" for the swivel hitch offered by Neosho I see that the insert is a nylon block. Any comments good or bad on this material being used in this situation? Thanks for the feedback. I picked up one of there couplers a while back and so far haven't installed it on the Piggy. Why? Basically didn't have anything to pull it with until recently. The nylon block needs to be through drilled to secure it inside the tongue. The design is pretty straight forward and simple. i thought it would contain roller bearings to make it easy to rotate. It doesn't. Klaus (kbert) installed one a year or so ago, and you might get ahold of him to get the straight scoop.
Black Owl Posted November 22, 2007 #4 Posted November 22, 2007 Rick, I have the Neosho swivel on my trailer. Installed it with the new tongue after the accident. Think if I had it on at the time of the accident, I probably wouldn't have needed to replace the tongue. The only problem (if you can call it that) was then I needed to shave down the nylon block so it would fit inside the tongue. If you are going to get it.... I would strongly encourage you to send the hitch out to a machine shop to get the holes drilled. Other than that, no problems.
Eck Posted November 22, 2007 #5 Posted November 22, 2007 Found some swivel hitch info and pics, on this site... http://www.neoshotrailers.com/trailer_models.html
86er Posted November 23, 2007 #6 Posted November 23, 2007 They show the hitch at $60 dollars with the trailer. How much do they want for it by itself?
Rocket Posted November 23, 2007 #7 Posted November 23, 2007 They show the hitch at $60 dollars with the trailer. How much do they want for it by itself? $70.00 by itself, lower part of page......... http://www.neoshotrailers.com/options.html
bikerjohn51 Posted November 24, 2007 #8 Posted November 24, 2007 Black owl..... I just bought one of these hitches..... plan to do it this winter.... Am I right in assuming you drill right through the nylon, steel center bar stock and back out the other side???? I was wondering if the turning mechanism would be jammed if I dilled right through !!!

Am I right in assuming you drill right through the nylon, steel center bar stock and back out the other side???? I was wondering if the turning mechanism would be jammed if I dilled right through !!! Heck no, go ahead and drill away. The hitch will still rotate...... as long as the bike and trailer are in sync and do too....:rotf::rotf:
Condor Posted November 24, 2007 #10 Posted November 24, 2007 Heck no, go ahead and drill away. The hitch will still rotate...... as long as the bike and trailer are in sync and do too....:rotf::rotf: Ya know I've got to apologize and eat crow. I just went and looked at the one I have, and that's exactely what you do. The nylon block is nothing more than a spacer to hold the round stock in the center of the tongue tubing. The rotation is done by a bearing in the coupler. Sorry for trying to be a smart a$$.........
sarges46 Posted November 24, 2007 Author #11 Posted November 24, 2007 I have also heard back from Klaus...he has not had any problems with his hitch. Looks like I will order two or them....one that will fit for sure on the camper and maybe modify the other for the piggybacker. Thanks for the imput guys!
Burninator Posted November 28, 2007 #12 Posted November 28, 2007 I purchased a swivel hitch of similar design last spring and installed it on my camper trailer then pulled it for 17 days with no problems. I too had to shave the nylon block but did so with a hack saw. Drilling presented no problems.
sarges46 Posted November 29, 2007 Author #13 Posted November 29, 2007 Ordered two...they are being sent to Boo, who has my camper in his yard. Cant wait till summer and try everything out!
sarges46 Posted November 30, 2007 Author #14 Posted November 30, 2007 Boo got my swivels today...man that was fast! Sounds good so far. Good on ya Neosho...for being fast outta the gate.
