Cougar Posted October 3, 2006 #1 Posted October 3, 2006 Well, I figured out why my Radiator Started to leak today. (slowly for the past month). I finely got it removed with the help on the phone from Scotty! (great guy)! I did take a bunch of pictures for a write-up that should be done by the end of the week. Any-how. The leak was caused by this Idiot.(myself) After removing the radiator I found this in-between (wedged) in the fan shroud and cooling fins , this happed to fall last winter when I was installing my TACH *oops* so in return, over-time it wore a spot right into the back-side of the cooling fins with the radiator slanted down-word makes it like it's leaking from the front. these are some pics of what it did on the back side. If you make the 2nd pic larger you can see the two small pin holes right in-between the colling fins on the main chamber. So to make a long story short.. LOOK FOR THAT Stuff that falls! *lol* I do remember it falling and thought it rolled someplace on the garage floor! Lesson Learned for this dummy! Jeff
Cougar Posted October 3, 2006 Author #3 Posted October 3, 2006 Almost looks like I could Solder that myself,, umm maybe I better NOT !*LOL* DOHHHHHH!!!!
BradT Posted October 3, 2006 #4 Posted October 3, 2006 I think most of us have done it. I remember the little plastic yamaha piece that covers the head nut on my old 750 fell off once. (Took me two months to find one). Figured it was on the floor. Went for a ride and when I got back I looked for it. It fell on top of the heads and stayed there when I got home it was melted. Never did find another one. I know not as severe as yours but bin there. Brad
Freebird Posted October 3, 2006 #5 Posted October 3, 2006 I'm sorry that it happened Cougar but I think it's good news for us in general. I would hate to find out that there are problems with these radiators.
