Question for pgr members

I am a new member of the pgr annd have a question about putting a patch on the back of my jacket. I already have the Venture Riders od the back. Am I allowed to have them both on their? If so is it ok to have the pgr patch under the Venture Riders? Where can I go to find out the answer? Thanks in advance for any help!!!!

I can't answer the question on the PGR side but of course we don't have any requirements our how our patch is worn.

Contact your PGR State Captain for guidance on the large PGR patch. Some State's do not allow the large back patch due to agreement with the Council of Clubs. Better to be safe than sorry....1%'ers are unforgiving when you are in their territory.

only the star club has b/s rules like that, put the patch wherever you want.

Make a few missions and see what is accepted first.

I bought a separate vest. One for VR related and one for PGR. Some guys down here mix brand related and club related patches with PGR patches. Personal preference I guess.

I contacted my state captain and he said much like Boomrcpo, They don't care if they are on there with another another club or who is top. They do not want you to have rockers with it. Also if you have an American flag patch nothing goes above it. He also asked if my mentor conacted me yet, and said a packet should be in the mail.

Fully agree. It really doesn't matter, as long as the patch is always subordinate to the American flag in its positioning on the vest or jacket. And no rockers!

 

The bigger source of heartburn lately seems to be the flying of the PGR blue and yellow flag on funeral escorts. Some folks don't care, and some folks bristle at the sight of anything other than an American flag or the branch of service flag in a funeral escort, especially anywhere near the hearse. I tend to side with the latter position. Fly it in a parade if you want, but otherwise, leave it in the saddlebag when honoring a KIA or a deceased Veteran.

It is the responsibility of the Mission Ride Captain to check with the Family/CAO to determine what THEIR wishes are concerning the placement of motorcycles, Cages with large Flags, and also what large Flags are flown on the Escort Motorcycles. What anyone else has to say matters NOT. We are there to pay HONOR and RESPECT to a fallen Hero....and abide by the wishes of the Family.

Boom, I absolutely agree with you - - the family's wishes should always be honored and respected in all aspects of an honor mission. But as a former RC with quite a few missions under my belt as well, I can tell you that not once in my meetings with family or the CAO did the subject of what flags to fly on the escort ever come up, nor should it have. IMO, they are burdened with way too much else on their plate to have to deal with something like that, and are usually too out of their mind with grief to be thinking clearly about it to know what is appropriate or not. Position of bikes in front or back, where the family cars are, etc. - - yes, this is discussed and usually is important to them.

 

I have a 3X5 PGR flag, but personally do not like flying it on a funeral escort, and if it was my call as a RC with no family or CAO preference, I asked anyone who wanted to fly it to stage toward the back of the escort, away from the hearse. Other RC's have no problem either way. But I've been on a few missions of late as a humble flag line member where it became a source of "heartburn" for some members and leadership (not me), which is why I mentioned it.

I hear you Brother.Personally I don't have a preference. I have always left it up to the Family of the Hero and I have never encountered a problem using that procedure. Despite their grief I have found that the Hero's family actually want to interact with us (PGR)....even to the point of the entire Family walking the Flag Line and thanking every single Member for being there.

In closing....I suspect that if the Flag issue rose to a detrimental level the PGR National BOD would rapidly put forth a specific directive concerning the wherefore's of the 3x5 PGR Flags.
