Guest tx2sturgis Posted March 17, 2011 #1 Posted March 17, 2011 (edited) Its a small amount, (they say) and it arrived in the cargo area of the airliner, but is this what we will be seeing more of, and soon? http://dfw.cbslocal.com/2011/03/17/low-level-radiation-detected-on-incoming-dfw-flight/ http://cbsdallas.files.wordpress.com/2011/03/radioactive-japan_1103848.jpg?w=420 Edited March 19, 2011 by tx2sturgis
Reddog170 Posted March 17, 2011 #2 Posted March 17, 2011 Ok that is spooky. Lets hope we can maintain the same mannerism the Japanese are.
Flyinfool Posted March 17, 2011 #3 Posted March 17, 2011 Oh great, I am flying to DFW early tomorrow morning..... I may have a third eyeball by the time I get back home.....
Black Owl Posted March 17, 2011 #4 Posted March 17, 2011 Oh great, I am flying to DFW early tomorrow morning..... I may have a third eyeball by the time I get back home..... Ahh yes. But think of the improvement...
OB-1 Posted March 17, 2011 #5 Posted March 17, 2011 This article is a total BS! Just look at this paragraph from the referenced article; "Sarah McDaniel, with DFW Airport, told NewsRadio 1080 KRLD that it was an extremely low level and posed no danger to passengers on the flight. She says it was also not the type of radiation that would have come from a nuclear power plant." The article contradicts the headline. The problems at the nuclear plant in Japan cannot cause radiation to reach the USA or Canada.
Guest tx2sturgis Posted March 17, 2011 #6 Posted March 17, 2011 (edited) The problems at the nuclear plant in Japan cannot cause radiation to reach the USA or Canada. Oh? Then what about the radiation cloud headed for southern California? http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/17/science/17plume.html?_r=1&hp Edited March 17, 2011 by tx2sturgis

GaryZ Posted March 17, 2011 #8 Posted March 17, 2011 Oh? Then what about the radiation cloud headed for southern California? http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/17/science/17plume.html?_r=1&hp Let's try and keep it real folks . . . from the article above; On Sunday, the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission said it expected that no “harmful levels of radioactivity” would travel from Japan to the United States “given the thousands of miles between the two countries.”
Guest tx2sturgis Posted March 17, 2011 #9 Posted March 17, 2011 Let's try and keep it real folks . . . from the article above; On Sunday, the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission said it expected that no “harmful levels of radioactivity” would travel from Japan to the United States “given the thousands of miles between the two countries.” I never said it will HURT anyone...but it IS headed this way by plane or natural weather patterns, folks...like it or not. And always remember to TRUST what the government says.... And what about all the contaminated seawater they are using on the core........where is THAT gonna go?
Flyinfool Posted March 17, 2011 #10 Posted March 17, 2011 Always trust your guberment orificials. There is no guberment that would lie to there people is there? Don't have to worry about all of the contaminated sea water, it is getting boiled into steam so it just gone....... OOpie, Is this thread getting political?

Not ALL of the seawater is boiling off, some is gonna be diverted SOMEWHERE. And if it is vapor, then its in the atmosphere....oh joy.
Flyinfool Posted March 17, 2011 #12 Posted March 17, 2011 NO NO you don't get it. If it all boils away then it is just gone....... Trust me........
Condor Posted March 17, 2011 #13 Posted March 17, 2011 Me thinks a lot of people have been watching too many SciFi doomsday films, and reading Chicken Little Rides Again....
BuddyRich Posted March 17, 2011 #14 Posted March 17, 2011 One of the jobs we had in the USAF was pilot survival training in a "nuclear " environment before and after ejection. There ain't nothin to worry about or even think about as far away as that is. The news is the news and just love to be alarmist. How else you gonna sell advertising if you don't have something to scare people into reading your site or newspaper.
Zane Posted March 17, 2011 #15 Posted March 17, 2011 its a small amount, (they say) and it arrived in the cargo area of the airliner, but is this what we will be seeing more of, and soon? them japanese folks is gittin' even for hiroshima and nagasaki!

midnightventure Posted March 17, 2011 #17 Posted March 17, 2011 Most of us mid westerners of a certain age were exposed to a lot more than will show up from Japan because when we were kids they tested atomic bombs above ground in Nevada.
midnightventure Posted March 17, 2011 #18 Posted March 17, 2011 A lot of basements have radiation narurally occurring. The real story is all the death and suffering and all the news people want to talk about is the nuclear problem because they have a hidden agenda.

Steam goes up the air....might need to worry a little about it.
MikeWa Posted March 18, 2011 #20 Posted March 18, 2011 The small amount detected at Dallas was from medical equipment in the hold of the airplane. This is a very common occurrence and only news because of events in Japan. There was no decontamination of the passengers or airplane taking place. The tragedy is in Japan. People are in a desperate condition and in many cases help is not coming due to radiation fears. Large numbers of people injured, freezing and without food or water are still dieing. It is an ongoing tragedy. Mike P.S. If anyone wants to donate here is a good link. http://www.salvationarmy.or.jp/index_english.html
