Everette Posted November 20, 2007 #1 Posted November 20, 2007 I've been working on the bike the last couple of days and everything going well. I was putting the gas tank back on this morning and noticed a loose hose that smells like gas. I cannot find where it goes. On the other side it looks like there is a similar hose going to the lowers where the air filters are are located. It feels loose also, I did not pull it out. Can I just slide the hose back into the space or does it connect to something? Thanks:confused24: Everette
Redneck Posted November 20, 2007 #2 Posted November 20, 2007 What you have there is the vent hose it hooks to the tank on the top under the ignition switch cover. it just hangs behind the left lower.
Eck Posted November 20, 2007 #3 Posted November 20, 2007 Yep, what Redneck said..a gas tank vent hose.. Here is a picture to help you locate where it goes on top of the gas tank ..
Everette Posted November 20, 2007 Author #4 Posted November 20, 2007 No it's not that hose this is going down in front of the engine and then to the lower faring. I think it is the other end of that hose. I just cranked the bike and it runs, so that is a good sign. Thanks Everette

breakingparts Posted November 20, 2007 #6 Posted November 20, 2007 Sounds like one of the AIS hoses. check the carbs. 2 have caps and 2 have the AIS hoses unless you already performed that mod.
Everette Posted November 20, 2007 Author #7 Posted November 20, 2007 Thanks for all the help. I'm still not sure what these hoses are, but I will find out tomorrow. Everette
Cougar Posted November 27, 2007 #8 Posted November 27, 2007 Everette, YES- it is a AIS Hose. all it does is vent ... not to worry.. I found that hose last year when I had to repair my radiator. I removed my Lowers and found those hoses. There is also one on the other lower as well. they do not give you enough length and yes they are kind of hard to push back in-place.. but nothing to really worry about. You can kind of route them anyplace. >downward Jeff
James Ardrey Posted November 27, 2007 #9 Posted November 27, 2007 Everett those hoses fit into a little bracket on the front side of the breathers and next to the lower fairing. You can't see the brackets unless you remove the Breather boxes. I think you can probably feel the bracket with your fingers or loosen the front fairing to make enough room to see or feel.
