Reddog170 Posted March 16, 2011 #1 Posted March 16, 2011 On my 83 VR I have been going through each system and part. Well I have now gotten to the air ride control and have a weird problem. It lights up and appears to work with the key in the accessory position but not when the key is in the on position. Any ideas? Shaun
Snaggletooth Posted March 16, 2011 #2 Posted March 16, 2011 That's the way it works Shaun. Accessory position only. It's a failsafe to keep you from playing with it while on the move. Brakes............check. C.L.A.S.S........check. Carbs.............in process. Front suspension.........Pending. Next project...............to be advised. Moving on!
bongobobny Posted March 16, 2011 #3 Posted March 16, 2011 Yup, sounds like it works normal!! There is a mod you can do to make it an "on the fly" adjustment, but myself I'm not too keen on the concept! The last thing in the world I want happening is to be in a tight turn and have my suspension charactoristics change because I hit a bump which caused the switch to make momentary contact, etc!! Not a good idea IMHO...
Condor Posted March 16, 2011 #4 Posted March 16, 2011 And... you have to turn the ignition switch off and then back to acc before it'll work again..... Now if you have it in the ACC and it still doesn't work there's plenty of info already posted on how to resolder the pcb connections.
Reddog170 Posted March 16, 2011 Author #5 Posted March 16, 2011 This bike is definitely teaching me new stuff. Tank You once again. Shaun
Reddog170 Posted March 16, 2011 Author #6 Posted March 16, 2011 Ok air ride control does NOT work. It lights up with the backlight but no numbers or anything shows up on the screen. Nothing happens when you push buttons. Will tear it apart and see if I can fix it. Shaun
